JOB SUMMARY :
Software Engineers III design, develop, document, test and support software features that improve or extend ARGO’s enterprise software solutions involving front-end, application-tier, and/or interface layers of the solution architecture. The Software Engineer III provides leadership to Software Engineers I and II and other Software Engineers III; plan, direct, and coordinate activities for one or more small or midsize projects.
EXPECTED WORK AND PERFORMANCE :
Job duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Executes the software development process, from technical design through testing, for system and business functionality for n-Tier applications, including middle-tier, client-tier, data access layer, external integrations, and web service design and development.
Designs, develops, documents, and tests business logic, user interfaces, database interactions, back-end services, and solution level functionality.
Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
Works with Architects to drive solution design and implementation.
Controls scope of individual functions or tasks by ensuring each adheres to the design and requirements. Ensures projects or tasks assigned are completed and delivery ready based upon published delivery timeframes.
Monitors project completion to ensure timeframes are met or modified accordingly.
Manage small or mid-size projects. Includes ability to design, implement, document, and complete all phases of a project; ability to communicate analysis, design, and implementation results in code reviews; ability to communicate requirements, functionality, benefits, and migration issues clearly in documentation. Delegates project activities based on timeframes and resources available.
Prepares and reviews conceptual and technical design documentation.
Lead project design sessions to provide expertise in current areas of proficiency and to gain knowledge in target area(s) of proficiency.
Executes code reviews to ensure adherence with coding, security, and performance standards for other Software Engineers and Application Developers.
Generates automated and manual test cases for use in unit, QA, and regression testing.
Delegate and provide guidance, support, and oversight for development tasks (changes, defects, etc.) in existing functionality to subordinate developers.
Responsible for all levels of project documentation, including test plans for both unit and system testing; reviews project documentation for content, clarity, and accuracy.
Supports and develops software engineers by providing advice, coaching, and educational opportunities.
Formulate responses to prospect/customer RFIs and RFPs in order to communicate ARGO services and expertise.
Coordinate with other departments during various stages of project management. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Position may require travel for onsite customer development projects.
QUALIFICATIONS : A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (CS), Software Engineering (SE) or related technical field is required for the position
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the full life-cycle development of enterprise solutions including design, construction, testing, implementation and debugging.
Expert proficiency in industry standard development tools and methods including Visual Studio, C/C++, Java, HTML/JS, React.
SKILLS :
Expert knowledge of algorithms, design patterns, and data structures.
Proven competence with relational databases (SQL Server, ORM Technologies).
Experience with cloud-based technologies (Azure, AWS) in a cloud-native or hybrid environment.
Ability to document requirements and specifications.
Experience leading a structured SDLC (Agile, Waterfall).
Experience driving and executing DevOps processes and procedures.
Experience leading enterprise software teams in complex environments.
Experience using system monitoring tools (e.g. New Relic) and automated testing frameworks.
Foundation of working with Behavior Driven Development (BDD)/Test Driven Development (TDD) practices.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documentation and design specifications.
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate within and among ARGO cross-functional teams to achieve project success criteria.
Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills with an ability to visualize processes and outcomes.
Ability to multitask and strong attention to detail.
Ability to effectively communicate deliverables and expectations to individuals and customers.
Ability to escalate issues to appropriate levels of management.
Ability to mentor other Application Developers and Software Engineers.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to present technical solutions to teams from other departments while describing the integration strategies and cross-disciplinary effects of new software solutions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
The candidate will work onsite at our corporate headquarters in Richardson, Texas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit stationary; use hands/fingers to constantly operate computer keyboarding and office equipment; talk or hear, to communicate with employees, customers, visitors, and guests (must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
