We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Field Product Manager to partner with the Field Operations Team to establish, monitor, and influence all aspects of profitability and growth for assigned states. This role involves managing and enhancing existing products through analysis, research, and strategic recommendations related to product design, pricing, underwriting, agency management, distribution, claims, and other processes.
What does a FIELD PRODUCT MANAGER do?
Profitability:
Achieve loss ratio targets for defined states.
Monitor key performance indicators daily, weekly, and monthly.
Develop and implement plans leveraging product, pricing, and risk management tools.
Execute and monitor strategic rate changes and making adjustments as needed.
Collaborate with other departments on trends and results.
Identify new ways to analyze data and share insights with the team.
Ensure production and underwriting profitability goals are met through detailed analysis of premium rates, loss experience, and retention.
Achieve written premium targets as defined by the forecast for assigned states.
Utilize forecast tools to predict future premiums and policy numbers.
Collaborate with Sales to optimize product changes and support production goals.
Identify and implement improvements to existing forecast tools.
Communicate and coordinate changes with Field Sales, Corporate Product, Actuarial, Claims, Corporate Marketing, and IT.
Contribute to new state initiatives as needed.
Prepare and ensure accuracy of filings before submission to the Department of Insurance.
Maintain regulatory compliance by staying informed of state and federal statutes and new legislation.
Manage state filings, licensing, consumer complaint resolution, assessments, market conduct examinations, audits, and DMV reports.
What is required?
Education: Bachelor's degree, with preference given to Actuarial, Math, Statistics, Insurance, or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Product Management, specializing in non-standard auto insurance products required.
Experience in pricing analysis and providing product change recommendations.
Experience working with Actuarial and Product departments for new state implementation.
Familiarity with submitting form and rate filings and responding to DOI comments/objections.
SAS or SQL experience preferred.
Power BI skills a plus (ability to build reports and analyze data).
Proficient in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, data analysis).
Other skills and abilities: Proven problem-solving and analytical skills for decision-making.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation to Senior Leadership.
Strong analytical skills and ability to understand and express ideas effectively.
Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.
Ability to balance quantitative analysis with competitor behaviors in the marketplace.
Ability to influence others and drive consensus on key decisions.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong problem-solving aptitude, with a natural curiosity and desire to dig into data.
Ability to balance multiple tasks and occasional travel (5%).
