Job Summary
The VP, Portfolio Accounting & Reporting will oversee multiple portfolios, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective management of financial risks. This role involves strategic planning, leadership, and hand-on management to support the company’s growth and financial health.
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of managing the team including recruitment, selection, hiring, orientation, training and development, performance management and coaching in accordance with company policy and procedure.
Provides strategic direction for the portfolio accounting function, and leads, mentors and develops a team of accounting professionals.
Collaborates with senior leaders to support strategic initiatives and business planning.
Responsible for the review of financial information for multiple commingled funds and/or joint ventures (JVs) and oversees the accounting for those funds or JVs. This includes periodic close process, financial statements and footnotes, capital account statements, performance returns (IRRs and TWRs) and other quarterly reporting to investors and their consultants.
Ensures compliance of all reporting with all relevant accounting and standards (GAAP and/or NCREIF-PREA) and regulatory requirements.
Review and make final recommendations for capital calls and distributions for the relevant funds and JVs.
Provides oversight of investment acquisition, disposition, and refinancing transactions
Liaise with internal and external parties to optimally structure transactions and/or vehicles.
Coordinates and oversees execution of audit and tax return processes, acting as liaison with external parties.
Implements and monitors internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Documents and updates policies, procedures and internal controls.
Monitors and assists in maintenance of any systems involved in the financial and performance reporting process.
What You’ll Bring- Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA required.
8-10 years accounting experience, with at least 5 years of supervisory management experience.
Knowledge on GAAP, familiarity with US tax, and strong financial reporting and technical accounting skills including exposure to corporate entities, real estate, real estate joint ventures, and fund investments.
Proficient with Microsoft Office; Advanced skill set with general ledger software.
