Come join our team! Responsibilities This position serves as Chief of Staff (COS) to the Information Technology Laboratory (ITL) Director. In this position, the candidate selected: Works with the ITL Director, senior management and staff to provide detailed guidance on policy and program development, implementation, and evaluation. Utilizes knowledge of NIST-wide programs, including on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and privacy, to collaborate with internal (NIST) and external stakeholders to navigate, negotiate, defend, or settle matters involving significant or controversial issues. Oversees ITL's communications function, working with technical staff and management to coordinate technical resources and develop communication documents for various audiences. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Requirements: Applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of the specialized experience at the GS-14 level (ZP-IV at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience in managing internal and external engagements, including leadership, developing, coordinating, and overseeing outreach special projects.
