Senior Underwriter - Loss Sensitive

Job Description

Chubb is currently looking for a Senior Loss Sensitive Underwriter.

The Senior Loss Sensitive Underwriter will be responsible for assisting in the transaction of loss rated business for the New York Region. The individual is expected to underwrite GL, Auto and Workers Compensation lines with a focus on upper middle market customers and will be responsible for generating new business while managing a renewal book as well. The position requires a high level of collaboration with the local underwriting teams and external agency base as needed, to communicate our product offering and value proposition.

We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated and results oriented with solid business and underwriting acumen.

Primary Responsibilities:

Point of contact for field on executing loss sensitive business - works with branches to help write and manage loss sensitive accounts, including potential travel to branches and capabilities presentations with insureds.

Assists with development of loss sensitive underwriting guidelines that adhere to line of business priorities and strategies.

Collaborates with Territory Underwriting Mangers, Line of Business Managers, Industry Segments, Risk Engineering, Actuarial, General Counsel, Claims and Credit Management on issues affecting the loss sensitive portfolio.

Represents the Commercial Insurance Workers Compensation practice in assigned loss sensitive projects, i.e., training, field communication and marketing. Requires collaboration with General Counsel, Branch Services, IT, Learning Services and Marketing.

Develops and delivers technical training via on-site and virtual modules.

Assists with loss sensitive portfolio management including large loss oversight, price adequacy and monitoring of emerging hazards.

Qualifications

2+ years of underwriting experience with demonstrated technical expertise in handling complex workers compensation exposures.

Experience with handling Large Deductible, Retrospectively Rated Programs preferred, but not required.

Strong business acumen and knowledge of commercial underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices.

Interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to effectively interact with both internal and external business partners.

Strong project management skills.

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Demonstrated proficiency of results achievement, customer development, collaboration, teamwork, and problem solving.

The pay range for the role is $87,500 to $149,500. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
