Lead Architect for the PNW Market

Gorman & Company is seeking a dynamic Lead Architect to spearhead our design efforts and elevate the living experience across our innovative multifamily and hospitality projects. As the Lead Architect, your architectural expertise and creative genius will breathe life into our projects, fostering a sense of belonging and elevating the living experience for residents.

Design Excellence and Responsibilities:

Lead strategic workflow between development, architecture, construction, and third-party design consultants.

Conduct feasibility studies and site analysis to determine project viability.

Oversee programming, permitting, and entitlement processes.

Conceptualize and refine unit layouts, amenity spaces, and overall project work to exceed expectations.

Lead the full architectural process and deliver projects on time, coordinating with in-house construction, development, and property management teams.

Produce quality construction documents and specifications that align with our design standards and client requirements.

Drive solutions to keep projects moving forward and on track.

Build relationships and navigate local and municipal permitting processes effectively.

Conduct comprehensive building code reviews to ensure compliance and safety.

Navigate complex regulatory settings, securing necessary approvals from municipalities, historical commissions, and lending institutions.

Collaborate with external consultants to meet National Park Service (NPS) requirements for historical projects, ensuring all guidelines and standards are met.

Project Leadership and Organizational Chart:

Coordinate with Gorman's construction staff, subcontractors, and design consultants to scope and price projects accurately.

Ensure projects meet financial targets by managing budgets, schedules, and scope changes effectively.

Serve as the Architect of Record, leading the design team and ensuring seamless execution from concept to completion.

Facilitate design reviews and implement feedback from cross-functional teams to ensure design integrity and excellence.

The Lead Architect will report to the Directors of Architecture.

The Lead Architect will act as the principal-in-charge and lead the local architecture business group.

Architecture Directors and Lead Architect will collaborate closely with the local Market President as client.

Team Collaboration:

Manage and mentor our talented in-house architecture staff, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Coordinate with Gorman's market presidents, development teams, and other departments to align priorities and project objectives.

Identify and recommend solutions to potential issues throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring smooth and efficient project delivery.

Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Architecture (Master's preferred) and professional registration as an Architect in the state of Oregon.

Minimum of 10 years of multifamily and hospitality design experience, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.

Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and industry-standard design software.

Exceptional project management and communication skills, with the ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.

Ability to prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and cultivate a team-oriented environment.
