Basic Function
The Digital Content Strategist plays a crucial role in developing and optimizing the university's web presence. This position involves managing content publishing processes, ensuring content accuracy and brand consistency, and optimizing user experience through effective information architecture. Responsibilities include adhering to HTML best practices, ensuring ADA compliance, managing CMS systems, and providing support for digital marketing tools. The role also requires troubleshooting, training, and advising on improvements to enhance the digital strategy.
Essential Job Functions
Content Publishing and Editing
Publish content to university websites.
Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to brand guidelines.
Collaborate with various teams to gather information and insights for content development.
Employ contemporary HTML best practices for content publication.
Assure that all content meets AA or better ADA compliance.
Oversee the management of the office publishing ticket system.
User Experience and Information Architecture
Collaborate with content creators to plan and develop sitemaps, wireframes, and proposals for content organization.
Optimize navigation, hierarchy, taxonomies, and labeling to enhance user experience.
Utilize layout and design tools to create a clear visual content hierarchy.
CMS Management and Optimization
Utilize and maintain Content Management Systems (CMS) to publish and update website content.
Work with developers to troubleshoot website issues and ensure smooth publishing processes.
Advise the team on improvements, such as custom post types or unique fields.
Scan sites for misspelled words, broken links, expired content, and general content and accessibility issues.
Train and support team members in using the CMS effectively.
Management and Support of Digital Marketing Tools
Assist campus users in implementing best practices, managing member logins, creating content, debugging, and offering support for digital marketing tools such as marketing emails, forms, and event registration.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform other related tasks as required to meet the goals of the department.
Minimum Qualifications Experience with Information Architecture, including the creation of wireframes and sitemaps.
Familiarity with Content Management Systems.
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with web developers.
Experience with email marketing platforms.
Familiarity with ADA compliance.
