Director, Alliance Management

Apnimed is a well-funded, clinical-stage pharmaceutical companyworking to transformthe treatment of sleep apnea based on a simple idea – patients with obstructive sleep apnea could benefit from treatment with a safe and effective oral medication dosed once daily at bedtime. Our lead development program targets the neurologic control of upper airway muscles to maintain an open airway during sleep. Based in Cambridge, Mass., we are developing a portfolio of novel pharmacologic therapies for sleep apnea and related disorders.

The Director, Alliance Management will report directly to the Chief Business Officer. As Strategic Alliances lead, the successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact representing Apnimed, its interests and strategic objectives with current and prospective partners. Principally, this role will oversee the governance and strategic portfolio management of Shionogi-Apnimed Sleep Science (SASS), Apnimed’s joint venture with Shionogi & Co. Ltd. that supports the development of novel pharmacologic therapies to treat obstructive sleep apnea and other sleep disorders. This is an exciting opportunity to help lead pharmaceutical development of programs that will drive a major paradigm shift in the treatment of sleep disorders.

Key Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

Lead and manage the relationship between Apnimed and its current partners to build and enhance the partnership and drive successful R&D outcomes

Align Apnimed and partners on the discovery, development and potential commercialization activities outlined within current and potential future collaborations;

Lead efforts for strategic portfolio management with respect to coordinating assets under development with partners, and integration of this partnered portfolio alongside Apnimed’s broader development portfolio;

Deploy best practices related to new product planning for partnered asset portfolio;

Lead strategic discussions pertaining to partnership matters and potential collaboration amendments;

Define ways of working, meeting, and communication cadence within the scope of the defined agreements.

Education and Experience:

Advanced degree preferred;

10+ years of pharmaceutical experience in business development, Alliance management, marketing, strategy, and new product launches;

Ability to understand and translate scientific platforms, data, insights, and implications to Commercial organization;

Understand and management of new product launch design and process management;

Strategic cross-functional leadership experience, including in market experience;

Experience collaborating with, influencing and leading cross-functional teams involving Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, Corporate Affairs, etc.;

Strong analytical and strategic skills including ability to identify and prioritize strategic challenges and balance short-term needs and long-term vision.
