Job Title: Institutional Partnerships Manager

About the Role :

The Lawyers’ Committee seeks a dedicated and highly motivated Institutional Partnerships Manager to lead the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of foundations and family funds, and will partner with the Strategic Partnerships Officer on corporations. This position will have a diverse set of responsibilities, focused on creating and deepening relationships with foundations through in-person and online meetings, mailings, and special engagement opportunities and managing the proposal and reporting processes.

What You’ll be Doing:

Responsibilities of the Institutional Partnerships Manager include but are not limited to: Work closely with the VP of Development, Strategic Partnerships Officer, President/Executive Director and Program staff and leadership to identify and cultivate relationships with foundations and other types of institutional funders.

Identify RFPs, LOIs and other prospective funding opportunities in alignment with Lawyers’ Committee needs and programmatic priorities.

Identify and create opportunities for institutional funders to engage and be updated on work, including but not limited to; written updates, virtual briefings, and in-person roundtables.

Solicit support to meet annual fiscal goal of over $8 million.

Track and manage a portfolio of grant funders and prospects through the identification, qualification, solicitation and close.

Draft proposals, letters of inquiry, and concept papers.

Lead the stewardship of existing funders, including primary responsibility for grant reporting deadlines and relevant updates to foundation program staff.

Secure and lead visits, calls and engagements with funder personnel and leverage appropriate program, development and leadership staff.

Identify and develop resources in response to community needs.

Minimum Requirements and Competencies: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience

Minimum of five years progressive experience working in institutional funding with proven track record of closing gifts from institutional funders

Strong belief in the Lawyers’ Committee’s work and mission

Commitment to racial equity, diversity, and inclusion. Respect for differences in race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, ability, and socioeconomic background

Exceptional writing, verbal and strong interpersonal skills

Persuasiveness and perseverance in attaining goals

The ability to communicate effectively on the phone and in-person with corporations, donors, board members, volunteers, staff, and the general public

Ability to read, analyze, and understand complex documents

Demonstrated ability to simplify complex themes and activities into a short, compelling presentation or written piece; Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines Ability to develop and implement long-term plan set objectives, and track progress towards achieving objectives

Proficiency with office technology and information systems (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Experience working for racial justice strongly preferred

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

Availability to travel in U.S. occasionally
