Main Purpose of Job

This position is eligible for 80% teleworking.\r\r\rThe main purpose of this full-time contractual position is to support, monitor and coordinate a wide range of strategic Statewide healthy weight- and overweight/obesity prevention- programming, policy and planning activities. This position will develop a Statewide Healthy Weight Action Plan and implement specific activities in the plan. This position will also manage budgets and contracts with vendors.\r\r\rAdditionally, this position will work collaboratively with team members of the Maryland Department of Health (MDH)'s Prevention and Health Promotion Administration (PHPA)'s Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control (CCDPC), as well as with other department staff members. Such collaborative work will be conducted to oversee targeted action plan activities, as well as to manage procurement, partnerships, and product development. Furthermore, this position will provide input on the evaluation, analysis and development of policies and programs which address the public health challenges presented by overweight/obesity in the State of Maryland.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.\rExperience:Three years of experience evaluating, analyzing, researching, and developing health care services, policies and programs.\rNotes:\r1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy, or a closely related fieldfor one year of the required experience.\r2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Doctorate degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy, or a closely related fieldfor two years of the required experience.\r

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

\rThe selected candidate must have at least two (2) years of experience managing Public Health Programs.\r\r

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\rThe desired candidate should have experience writing public health reports, as well as evidence of such written public health reports.\r\r

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.\r

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract, and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits.\rYou can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\rLeave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12-month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r
