Corporate Communications Associate

Overview

Plymouth Rock is looking for a Corporate Communications Associate to support our Brand Marketing team and help guide both the company’s public relations and internal communications programs. In the role, you will work closely with the Corporate Communications Manager to provide both strategic and tactical communications support, helping set and measure goals, mine compelling stories and messages from within the company, oversee day-to-day program responsibilities, and coordinate with the company’s PR agency.

In addition, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of a new employee communication program. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organization, including Human Resources, IT, and executive teams, to build a framework that engages employees across offices, business functions and levels, through the creation of engaging content across multiple internal communications platforms.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, a strong understanding of media relations best practices, and be comfortable creating content for email, social media, web, and print. We are looking for a self-starter who is willing to pitch in wherever there is a need. Candidates should have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and enjoy working in a group environment and then taking things forward on an individual basis.

Here is what you will do:

Working closely with public relations agency to guide, measure and optimize PR program; Supporting the tracking and measurement of media coverage and program goals

Understanding the current media landscape to help build and manage relationships with relevant reporters including industry trade, and local and national business, in collaboration with agency partners

Managing both proactive and reactive media relations opportunities within the organization; Building out corporate spokesperson stable to support media in a quick and efficient manner

Developing and reviewing high quality, thoughtfully written materials, including press releases, media pitches, bylines, and speaker submissions, as well as employee emails and other internal communications collateral, social media posts, company intranet articles, and more

Proactively identify opportunities to build Plymouth Rock’s brand through earned media, including thought leadership and executive communications by maintaining a pulse on relevant industry and competitor news and presenting new, fresh ideas

Helping develop a new employee communication program, including the introduction of new content (e.g., newsletter) and a refresh of existing content to help gain efficiency, improve look and feel, and increase equity in repeatable communications

Support the development of a new employee intranet homepage, including content creation

Here is what you will bring to the table:

Results-oriented mindset, have a solid track record of effectively working in media relations, strong writing and organization, and acute attention to detail. Experience executing local and national communications programs is a plus.

Minimum of 3 years agency experience implementing public relations/external communications programs

Self-start and resourceful problem-solver – gets thing moving and keep them on track

Excellent time and priority management skills

Ability to think creatively and tell complex stories in an easily digestible way

Excellent online, verbal, writing and communication skills

Proficiency in monitoring and consistently reporting earned media coverage to stakeholders

Experience writing in all forms of corporate and executive communications. Crisis communications writing is a plus
