This role involves conducting market research, financial analysis, due diligence, and deal execution to support investment decisions. You will work closely with senior investment professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry experts to identify promising startups, assess business models, negotiate terms, and monitor portfolio company performance.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Deal Sourcing and Evaluation:

Source potential investment opportunities through networking, industry events, referrals, and proactive outreach to entrepreneurs and startup founders.

Evaluate business plans, pitch decks, financial projections, and market strategies of potential portfolio companies to assess investment attractiveness and alignment with fund objectives.

Financial Analysis and Due Diligence:

Conduct financial modeling, including revenue forecasts, cost projections, and valuation analysis, to assess the financial viability and growth potential of prospective investments.

Perform due diligence on target companies, analyzing historical financial performance, market positioning, competitive landscape, intellectual property, and regulatory considerations.

Investment Execution and Structuring:

Support senior team members in negotiating investment terms, structuring financing agreements, and preparing legal documentation (e.g., term sheets, investment agreements) for investment transactions.

Coordinate with legal advisors, accountants, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth transaction execution and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Portfolio Management and Monitoring:

Monitor portfolio company performance, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide ongoing support to portfolio management teams in strategic decision-making and operational improvements.

Assist in preparing portfolio reviews, performance reports, and investment updates for fund investors, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and growth opportunities.

Market Research and Industry Analysis:

Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes within target sectors (e.g., technology, healthcare, fintech) to identify investment themes and opportunities.

Contribute to sector-specific research initiatives, market mapping exercises, and thought leadership projects to enhance the firm's investment strategy and industry expertise.

Relationship Management and Networking:

Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, venture capital firms, industry experts, and startup ecosystem stakeholders to expand deal flow, source investment opportunities, and leverage industry insights.

Represent the firm at industry conferences, networking events, and startup pitch competitions to establish a strong presence within the venture capital community.

Skills Required:

Financial Acumen: Strong quantitative and financial analysis skills with proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and investment decision-making.

Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to assess startup business models, evaluate innovation potential, and identify disruptive technologies and market opportunities.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate investment thesis, present findings, and interact effectively with entrepreneurs, senior management, and investment committee members.

Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Team Collaboration: Capacity to work collaboratively within a team structure, contribute to investment discussions, and support portfolio management activities.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is typically required; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, Master's in Finance) may be preferred.

Relevant experience (typically 2-4 years) in investment banking, management consulting, venture capital, or startup operations with exposure to financial analysis, due diligence, and transaction execution.

Knowledge of startup ecosystems, venture capital investing, and entrepreneurial ventures is advantageous.

Compensation:

The compensation package for a Venture Capital Associate typically includes a competitive base salary, performance-based bonuses tied to investment success and fund performance, and potentially carried interest in investment gains.

Additional benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities may also be provided based on the employer's policies.
