Who We Are

We are a firm that values and respects our staff, fosters an environment that encourages learning and growth, and is committed to the success of our clients.

At PAE, we like to think of ourselves as a little bit different from most engineering firms. Here's why:

We care intensely about envisioning and creating sustainable building systems and work every day to break new ground in the world of sustainable design.

We have a close affinity to the visions of the architects we work with; we understand the need for beauty as well as practicality.

We value creativity as much as we value precision.

We understand that the visionary people we want to hire need to experience the world in order to change the world, and we work hard to support that need.

What You'll Do

The Software Solutions Architect at PAE plays a crucial role in designing, leading, and developing software solutions, combining strategic thinking with hands-on technical expertise. You'll be responsible for shaping the overall architecture of PAE's software and data integration solutions, leading the development lifecycle, overseeing development resources, and hands-on coding. This is a great role for big-picture thinkers who are just as comfortable brainstorming and planning as they are coding.

Collaboration, Ideation, and Solution Architecture

Work closely with stakeholders to analyze business needs and translate them into technical solutions

Develop high-level architectural designs that align with business goals and technical requirements; envision the entire system, considering scalability, security, performance, and maintainability

Create detailed plans to support those strategic objectives

Evaluate, recommend, and implement appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools for PAE's software technology stack

Delivery Management

Plan and guide the development process, ensuring that the end product aligns with the original vision and meets high-quality standards

Utilize modern project management methodologies (Agile Scrum, Waterfall, etc.) to lead development resources, both internal and external, ensuring successful project execution, resource allocation, and deliverables

Establish and maintain software development backlog utilizing the Agile framework and related industry tools like Azure DevOps and/or Jira

Foster collaborative relationships and manage expectations with external development partners, including offshore teams or third-party vendors

Code Review and Quality Assurance

Provide technical direction on best practices for development; propose enhancements to existing solutions and explore new opportunities

Devise software testing strategies to ensure robustness and reliability

Dive into the codebase as needed, reviewing code and providing technical guidance aligned with best practices

Documentation and Support

Write and revise code for data integration and automation solutions

Create prototypes or proof-of-concepts for new product ideas, validating architectural decisions

Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues as needed

Document processes and provide technical support and training to end-users

Enable data flow between systems by developing custom connectors, implementing APIs, web services, and other integration methods

Optimize integration flows to ensure high performance and reliability

What You Bring

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or equivalent experience

Minimum 8 years of combined experience in software development, architecture, and project leadership

Minimum three years of experience with cloud-based integration solutions and services

Relevant Industry Certifications preferred

Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, project management and quality assurance best practices

Ability to identify software bugs and collaborate on solutions

Extensive coding and programming expertise in languages such as HTML5, C#, Java, Python, and JavaScript

Strong understanding of integration patterns, API management, and web services (REST, SOAP), and similar technologies

Experience with integration platforms (e.g., Azure, MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Apache Camel, IBM Integration Bus)

Familiarity with SQL database technologies (e.g., Postgres, MySQL, Microsoft) and query languages

Experience with Microsoft 365 services (SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform) and integration development using Microsoft technologies (Azure, Logic Apps, Power Automate, etc.)

Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

Familiarity with emerging AI platforms and services

Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on solution development

Software project management experience with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage external resources

Excellent communication and documentation skills, experience in translating complex technical subjects to all stakeholders

Ability to maintain a professional, positive, and friendly manner

Strong time and task management capabilities, able to adapt, shift focus, and prioritize workflow with minimal supervision
