Organizational Overview: Eden I & R, Inc. envisions a community empowered with information and connected to resources so that all people obtain health, happiness, hope, and improved livelihoods. The agencys largest program is 211 Alameda County, the 24/7 multilingual phone line that provides resource information to individuals and families from throughout the county. With a current annual budget of $4 million and 46 employees, Eden I & R, Inc. is a medium-sized nonprofit organization in a state of growth. With staff and service provision expanding, the agencys budget has increased nearly 60% in the last five years.
Position Overview: The Development & Outreach Associate will work to promote the mission of Eden I&R and raise awareness of its programs to the community and various stakeholders, including donors. The Development & Outreach Associate assists the Development Manager and Executive Director with fund development, special events, and social media. Additionally, this person will be responsible for the management of the donor database and donor acknowledgements. This position reports to the Development Manager.
The Development & Outreach Associate should be a dedicated and passionate person who is creative, outgoing, and self-motivated. The ideal candidate is familiar with current marketing and development strategies, with strong writing and confident interpersonal skills, and works well independently and in teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Outreach & Communications
Manage the agencys social media platforms; write social media posts; monitor social media campaigns and ads, and post website updates via WordPress
In partnership with the Development Manager, create and distribute monthly agency e-newsletter
Plan and attend a wide range of public engagement and outreach activities
Create outreach materials (e.g., flyers) to be used at public engagement and outreach activities
Maintain the outreach calendar of events
Provide staff support and communication/documentation for the Board of Directors, particularly the External Affairs Committee
Coordinate and assist in preparing agency documents, including the annual report
Fund Development
Maintain a calendar of fund development events, deadlines, and follow-up activities
Draft donor communications in partnership with the Development Manager and Executive Director, including donor e-newsletters and appeals
Manage the timely acknowledgement of donations and ensure that all types of donations (cash, pledges, matching gifts, and planned gifts) are properly documented in the agencys donor database
Assist with administrative tasks related to submitting grant proposals and coordinating the distribution of appeals and other mailings
Assist with fundraising events as needed
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE :
Preferred Skills & Experience:
BA degree or equivalent
Two years of successful fundraising experience in a nonprofit agency
Working knowledge of development/fundraising concepts and appropriate solicitation techniques
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and internet usage; knowledge of SharePoint, cloud storage technologies
Experience using Canva, Constant Contact, and/or Adobe Creative Cloud
Knowledge of donor databases, such as Network for Good
Experience using Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms

Flexibility to telecommute, work in the office, and attend various events throughout Alameda County
Excellent attention to detail
Strong project management, organizational, and planning skills
Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks to meet due dates

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Note: This position will require attendance at community outreach events and public engagements, including, but not limited to, evenings and weekends.
