Accounting Manager

Salary Range: $68,000.00 To 70,000.00 Annually

Basic Function

This position reports to the Director of Administration and is responsible for effective management and operation of all accounting functions. Responsibilities also include supervision of accounting staff in the Finance Department.

Responsibilities

Supervise, train, and support accounting staff by monitoring and approving daily accounting functions.

Assist with interviewing and orientation of new accounting staff.

Oversee preparation of account entries for all credit cards and monthly credit card reconciliations.

Assist with verification of documentation and financial transactions for all programs.

Oversee preparation and ensure accuracy and timeliness of payments for accounts payable.

Oversee reconciliation of accounts.

Oversee preparation of invoices and related documentation for accounts receivable.

Maintain financial security by implementing and following internal controls.

Oversee and enforce compliance with existing and new requirements of GAAP, federal, state and local financial legal regulations, and advise staff of changes, as needed.

Ensure that financial information, analysis, and reporting are accurate, timely, reliable, and relevant to assist Director of Administration and Program Management Teams.

Oversee and direct payroll procedures, ensuring compliance with laws and tax obligations, and maintaining accurate payroll records.

Perform miscellaneous reporting and administrative accounting tasks, as deemed necessary by Director of Administration

Review accounting policies and procedures manual and update as needed.

Assist with annual audit and government grant audits.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

Qualifications/Experience

Supervisory experience is required (one year minimum), along with two -three years of related work experience. Experience in accounting and financial reporting for nonprofit organizations is preferred. Experience processing payroll (one year minimum) for 150+ employees is required.

Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel and Word is required, and Microsoft Access, other accounting and payroll software is a plus.

Experience in training, coaching, and staff is required, along with performance management.

Ability to manage departmental tasks, prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and work with a team.
