PAY SCALE: $105,000.00 - $110,000.00 ANNUALLY

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Application Developer is responsible for the programming (development), design, testing, implementation, and support of database applications for the credit union’s host systems. This individual will work closely and seamlessly with stakeholders to create and improve processes that integrate with the host system. This individual will analyze product offerings, identify gaps, recommend alternatives, and deliver solutions that meet business needs. A solid experience and a working knowledge of the credit union’s products and services are required from a technical perspective.

TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

1. Review, define, design, program and implement solutions for our core systems using third and fourth generation programming languages.

2. Work with other technical staff and business partners to understand platforms, integration points (APIs, services) and database structures.

3. Perform object-oriented and structured programming, depending on business need.

4. Research, analyze, design, document, and create test plans and prototype host applications and solutions that integrate with third-party systems.

5. Analyze user requirements and prepare technical design specifications to address those requirements.

6. Evaluate and analyze data related to application development in order to improve performance.

7. Conduct database design, maintenance, and tuning to ensure optimal and reliable performance.

8. Prepare test scenarios and evaluate test results to validate accuracy of programs and procedures.

9. Examine the company’s goals and review current technology to envision system features and functionality and recommend, review, define, design, program, and implement solutions.

10. Troubleshoot core system errors/issues and fix or recommend solutions for a fix.

11. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.

12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:

1. Effective oral and written communication skills required to diagnose and interpret programming problems.

2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine, and telephone.

3. Carry and respond to smartphone on a rotation basis with other Programmer Analysts. May be able to diagnose problems from home; to correct problem, may occasionally need to travel to site by car or public conveyance.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:

1. INTERNAL: Department Managers and staff.

2. EXTERNAL: Vendors, support personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science or equivalent work experience is preferred.

2. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five years of experience in software analysis, design, programming, maintenance, technical troubleshooting, and documentation is required. Previous experience within the financial industry is desired.

3. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Enterprise experience working with multi-tier software architecture, object-oriented design, requirements gathering, Agile and Waterfall SDLC, and have a thorough understanding of core systems infrastructure (operating systems, web server, database, etc.). Demonstrated expertise in developing, troubleshooting, and implementing software code that includes at least the following: XML, SQL, class methods, COBOL, TAL, TACL, Caché ObjectScript. Strong leadership skills are preferred. Extensive knowledge in multiple programming languages is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.

Corrected vision within the normal range.

Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.

Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.

Minimal local travel by car or public conveyance.

Prolonged operation of a personal computer, which includes typing, operating a mouse and reading information on the monitor.

May require unusually long work hours to accomplish tasks.

May require travel during projects.
