Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Walmart Commerce Technologies' mission is to enable businesses worldwide to better serve their customers with technologies and SaaS solutions powered by Walmart. Our team was established in 2022 and we are transforming scaled Walmart technologies into white-label offerings for other retailers and sellers. We've launched Store Assist, an out-of-the box, mobile-first store fulfillment application and are accelerating our pipeline of future products.

As a Principal Software Engineer on the Walmart Commerce Technologies team, you will have the unique opportunity to commercialize mature enterprise systems and enable them for a whole industry of retailers. You will assess feasibility and help bring to market build new SaaS products that are based on current internal systems.

As a seasoned engineer you will have a great opportunity to drive our commercialization technical strategy for these new products and help shape a new team. There is a high amount of autonomy to find opportunities and create impact for our business. This is a great opportunity for career growth!

What you'll do:

Design systems and technical strategies to create new SaaS products out of existing large-scale systems.

Make key technology decisions that will enable long term success while meeting immediate needs of our customers.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the feasibility of commercialization and our go-to-market approach.

Identify cross-product platform needs and build into our roadmap.

Provide technical leadership for other engineers and set best practices as we grow our team.

Understand the entire system end to end and break down complex tasks for the team.

Diagnose and resolve system and reliability issues.

What you'll bring: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience.

12+ years of experience in software engineering.

Background in retail-tech, SaaS, or building multi-tenant platforms or services.

Expertise with technologies such as Java, Spring frameworks, React, NodeJS, SQL Databases

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

Experience working with large scale systems and event driven architectures.

Strong communications and collaboration skills.
