The Junior System Administrator - IT Technician provides support and maintenance of Information Technology Equipment and Audio/Visual equipment. They assist in maintaining, upgrading, and managing software, hardware, and networks. The ideal candidate will be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly, and have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users. Hours may vary to accommodate special events, but likely occasional weekend work, and some evening or early morning work depending on school events.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
System Maintenance: Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of server and desktop hardware, software, and operating systems.
Network Management: Support network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs. Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
User Support: Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the smooth operation of computer systems.
Security: Assist in implementing and managing security measures, including firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion detection systems.
Backup and Recovery: Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of systems, configurations, procedures, and processes.
Collaboration: Work closely with the senior system administrator and other IT staff to plan and execute IT projects. Assist in the research and deployment of new technologies.
Compliance: Ensure systems comply with organizational policies, industry standards, and legal regulations.
Technical training for students & employees as needed, including 1:1 initial setup when onboarding new employees/students.
Collaborates with Educational Technology personnel on an as-needed basis to ensure a positive environment for teaching and learning as it relates to technology.
Event support for audiovisual and computer needs.
Repairing or replacing damaged hardware.
Credentialing employees, including printing or replacing badges.
Performs evaluations of new software & hardware, including interoperability with school infrastructure.
Ensure accuracy of inventory database, help desk system, and other records as appropriate.
Participates in continued technical professional development.
Other duties as assigned by the assistant department director, department director & school leadership team.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred. High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
2+ years of IT technician or computer-related experience
Experience supporting users working with macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and A/V equipment
Experience supporting users working with Adobe, Microsoft, and G Suite applications
Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (training available)
Detail-oriented and organized orientation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to function well in a high-paced and occasionally stressful environment
Physical Requirements:
The ability to safely work on ladders and lift up to 75 pounds is required.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
