Responsibilities

As part of the Business & Regulatory Investigations Team, you will direct internal investigations and provide legal counsel on compliance matters and initiatives.

You will also oversee the internal investigations process, collaborating with investigations partners at the company.

This position supports Microsoft’s continued commitment to comply with laws, regulations and policies governing its business, finance, and accounting activities globally.

Supporting the Business & Regulatory Investigations team in developing and implementing investigations best practices across the worldwide investigations program; delivering investigations insights to stakeholders; leveraging data analytics in collaboration with investigations partners in C&E; and working with and managing outside counsel and other third-party investigations services providers.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctorate Degree or Equivalent International Degree

OR Completion of a Legal Apprenticeship.

Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.

5+ years experience as a practicing attorney handling internal/corporate investigations or government investigations.

OR equivalent practice of law.

Experience analyzing complex financial, business, and legal issues and communicating investigations findings and recommendations in a clear and concise fashion.

Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

Collaborative mindset and ability to engage different investigation stakeholders effectively.

Highly skilled in conducting investigations-related interviews.

Outstanding analytical skills.

Familiarity with investigations data, artificial intelligence investigation tools and case management tools.

Firm understanding of relevant compliance rules and requirements, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and other laws and regulations governing U.S. companies doing business in non-U.S. locations, as well as an appreciation of pertinent accounting and finance principles.

Grasp of employment, privacy, and other requirements relating to internal investigations.

Prior experience dealing with diverse cultures and managing and building client relationships.

Legal Counsel IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $222,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $238,600 per year.
