The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) currently has one (1) permanent full-time Level 7 Principal Investigator position available from 20 September 2024.

This selection process may be used to fill other similar at level vacancies that arise within twelve (12) months. Applicants deemed suitable but not recommended may be considered for those roles.

Pool Recruitment

DFES is also seeking to establish a pool of suitable applicants for a Level 6 Senior Investigator . This pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and suitable applicants may be considered for appointment to similar at level vacancies as they arise.

Being appointed to the pool does not guarantee you a placement in a position.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who possess skills and experience in investigations. We are looking for someone that has worked across all facets of investigations.

It is highly desirable to have a qualification in investigations, however this is not an essential requirement to do the role.

As the Principal Investigator within the DFES Professional Standards you will:

Lead, conduct, and deliver high level, sensitive and complex assessments and investigations relating to staff misconduct matters and discipline management services.

Develop and implement integrity standards across all areas of DFES in accordance with the Public Sector Commissioner’s Instructions.

Contribute to the development and implementation of fraud and corruption control activities, integrity capability building activities and the DFES Integrity Framework.

Coordinate the development and delivery of training requirements in relation to all areas of integrity, Code of Conduct, Accountable and Ethical Decision Making.

As the Senior Investigator within the DFES Professional Standards you will:

Conduct complex and sensitive investigations relating to staff misconduct matters and discipline management services.

Prepare briefs of evidence relating to disciplinary matters in accordance with the Fire Brigades Regulations 1943 and the Public Sector Management Act 1994.

Assists the Director Professional Standards with the assessment, management and reporting of integrity risks relating to conflict of interest, secondary employment and gifts, benefits, and hospitality.

Assist with the development and delivery of training requirements in relation to all areas of integrity, Code of Conduct, Accountable and Ethical Decision Making
