Reporting to the VP Ocean Freight for a world class logistics organization that provides air, ocean, customs brokerage, trade solutions and supply chain services throughout the world. With over 21,000 associates in 34 countries, our client strives to ensure that customer requirements are met with the highest quality service and seeks to develop mutually rewarding relationships with team members, partners, and suppliers.
The Strategic Business Development Ocean will have a primary focus to establish strategic partnerships for our client’s ocean and freight forwarding business. Will develop, strengthen and maintain relationships with new or existing customers. Will oversee customer accounts, strategically developing solutions that precisely meet customers’ needs to drive optimal sales and profits. Identifies opportunities for account growth while offering a full array of value-added services and identifies key trends for ocean and freight forwarding to determine new sales opportunities.
Background Required:
Freight forwarding sales experience (8 years)
Excellent knowledge of ocean freight forwarding
Demonstrated ability to achieve major account sales goals
Business plan preparation and implementation
Knowledge of major trade lanes (Asia-Pacific, SE Asia, Mexico & Brazil)
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to travel 40%
Computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Residence: Greater Los Angeles, CA

Freight forwarding operations
Ability to cross sell other products and services
Advanced Degree – MBA
