Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) seeks a Director of Market Influence to advance the Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter's (TCIS) mission to catalyze inclusive housing markets. The purpose of the Center is to influence market actors to change behaviors, policies, business models, and products and services leading to scalable affordable housing solutions - so that everyone has a decent place to live.

As a part of the TCIS management team, reporting to the VP & Executive Director, TCIS, this director will be responsible for advancing HFHI's strategic goal to be a leader in growing awareness of and spurring action for housing as a critical foundation for building better, healthier, more financially and economically stable livelihoods. The successful candidate will have demonstrated practical experience in:

* Leveraging qualitative and quantitative data, brand, and networks for measurable impact

* Practical application of the data / information / knowledge / wisdom framework, or other similar frameworks to spur measurable change

* Identifying, cultivating, and deploying change agents and change makers

* Crafting messages, media, and modes of communication to suit multiple contexts

* Fostering effective collaboration in a matrixed environment

Coordinating with colleagues across HFHI and working closely with the Public Engagement and International Communications teams, this director will be responsible for positioning HFHI and its senior leaders as sought-after experts, elevating housing as an issue of importance for new and broader audiences and supporting HFHI's fundraising priorities.

The person in this role will work across all regions/practice areas of TCIS, promoting a culture of collaboration, cooperation, and communication throughout. TCIS is seeking an initiative-taker who is an active listener and critical thinker, as well as creative, adaptive, and passionate about using data and information to foment measurable and positive change. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and can navigate complex organizational structures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Influence Strategy Development & Execution

* In partnership with multiple TCIS units and other HFHI divisions, conceptualize and execute an influence strategy that capitalizes upon unique TCIS value propositions and aligns with HFHI's efforts to better connect housing construction with market and policy influence efforts

* Collaborating effectively across TCIS and HFHI, ensure the continued development of strategic, viable, and fundable initiatives which elevate our impact

*Guide TCIS approaches, such as strategic change partnerships, innovative programming, or influencing & knowledge brokering, to ensure the maximum positive impact on priority communities

* Oversee the development and delivery of an effective process to direct the type of evidence we need to capture, share impacts, and ensure learning is incorporated into our work

External Representation and Strategic Partnership Building

* Engage actively with the individuals and institutions critical to achieving our goals

* Ensure that TCIS and HFHI are known & respected for our work in key areas - including key cross-cutting themes, such as climate, gender equity, or youth engagement

* Ensure engagement with relevant issues and partnerships, keeping abreast of future trends and identifying the valued added roles that we can play in systems change to achieve our mission

Leadership and Management

* Consistently model HFHI's core values of humility, courage, and accountability, while also promoting TCIS's unique character as an innovation center premised on curiosity, dynamism, nimbleness, and collaborative creativity

* Establish criteria, indicators, and goals for performance excellence of all line reports

* Manage individual and team performance, including nurturing leadership, management, and technical expertise among staff, identifying and supporting opportunities for career advancement, and offering mentorship, coaching or other supports, as required

* Champion and foster embrace of HFHI diversity, equity and inclusion commitments

* Engage actively in the leadership of TCIS and HFHI through periodic participation in and contribution to wider organizational initiatives

* Ensure compliance with company policy, including observance of HFHI guiding principles and desirable behaviors, and compliance with procedures and internal deadlines

* In collaboration with peers within TCIS & HFHI, contribute to assessing resource development opportunities, preparing concept notes, and pitching proposals

* Manage effectively HFHI financial resources

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

* At least 10 years working in public relations, journalism, media, technical writing, or related fields with at least 5 years management experience

Requirements:

* Proven experience of design and delivery of influencing strategies for achieving systemic change in an international development setting

* Proven ability to navigate and collaborate with cross-functional, global teams working in a matrixed structure

* Sharp analytical skills with the ability to interpret global trends and identify potential implications for organizational strategy

* Deep understanding of systems analysis and theories of change

* Proven ability to lead and manage a team of specialists to work to a group agenda

* Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, learning, and knowledge management strategies

* Excellent written and oral communications skills in English

Preferred Requirements:

* Expertise in a relevant sector, such as housing, climate, finance, gender equity, or youth empowerment

* Experience of working in the Global South

* Working proficiency in Spanish

* Strong knowledge of global media markets

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate's qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance.

For work locations in the US, the target hiring range for this position is $101,150 - $113,050. The salary range for this position is between $95,000 - $143,000 per year.

Staff hired on a hybrid basis in the United States near an HFHI office location (Atlanta, Georgia / Washington, DC), are required to report to the office on Tuesdays.
