Financial Controller

Job Description

A rapidly growing luxury outdoor living and landscape services company is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead its accounting and finance function. This individual will oversee a small but high-performing team, drive financial reporting and process improvements, and serve as a strategic business partner to ownership. The organization operates multiple locations, generates approximately $15M in annual revenue, and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a growing entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team consisting of Accounting and HR professionals

Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, AP, AR, cash flow, and budgeting

Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership

Drive process improvements and strengthen internal controls across the organization

Develop reporting dashboards, KPI metrics, and visual financial reports for ownership

Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives

Partner with operational leaders to improve financial visibility and accountability

Work closely with external CPAs, banking partners, and other advisors

Assist with HR-related oversight and support organizational growth initiatives

Serve as a key member of the leadership team and contribute to overall business strategy

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

CPA preferred but not required

5+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience

Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience strongly preferred

Experience supporting businesses with $15M+ in annual revenue

Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting

Experience leading and developing accounting staff

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate financial data into business insights

Advanced technology aptitude with ERP and accounting systems experience

Experience creating executive-level reporting, dashboards, and KPI analysis

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Preferred Background

Construction, landscaping, field services, maintenance, project-based, or other operationally focused industries

Experience with ERP and project-management systems

Strong process improvement and change management capabilities

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $110,000 - $135,000 DOE
