Job Description

We're looking for a Director, Financial Crime Compliance for checkout.com's operations in the Americas, based in New York.

You will join a growing international team dedicated to Compliance. Reporting into the Chief Compliance Officer, this role will work closely with various functional key partners (Sales, Onboarding, Transaction Monitoring, Legal, Product), ensuring compliance with all applicable requirements around Financial Crime, AML/CTF and compliance regulation.

The ideal candidate will be a confident individual with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. You can demonstrate the ability to promote proactive and effective solutions and exercise good judgment when partnering with the business within a fast-paced and exciting environment.

How you'll make an impact

Lead the U.S. compliance program as the BSA/AML Officer for Checkout's main U.S. entity, as well as the BSA/AML Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for Checkout's sub-entity which holds state money transmitter licenses.

Serve as the AML Officer for Checkout's Canadian entity, and manage interactions with FINTRAC, including regulatory reporting.

Oversee the Americas Financial Crime and AML Program to manage all sources of regulatory risk and provide reporting which meets the needs of our U.S. and Canadian regulators and other stakeholders.

Manage the Americas compliance team, including oversight of other regional Money Laundering Reporting Officers (MLROs).

Provide oversight and compliance advice to the Americas team, ensuring risk management and mitigation policies are embraced and adequately addressed.

Review escalations from the first line of defense, approving merchant applications and making sure necessary CDD is performed at all times.

Develop compliance reporting as per regulatory and governance requirements and issue internal reports to Senior Management (AML/CTF internal control report, Fraud, periodic internal reports etc.).

Contribute to updating AML/CTF risk classifications and assessing new products/activities risk exposure.

Supporting the business and signing off, where necessary, the launch of products to ensure regulatory requirements are met, as appropriate.

Contribute to the development of the annual Global compliance Strategy planning process, ensuring both regional and global goals are defined, agreed, tracked and reported.

Participate in the several ad hoc Group compliance projects as needed, including licensing expansion projects.

Qualifications

What we're looking for Minimum 10 years of experience within regulated companies, in senior compliance role(s) with robust knowledge on Compliance topics (KYB / KYC, AML/CFT, Sanctions etc.)

Knowledge and experience within Payments/Fintech and Money Transmitter License compliance.

Working knowledge of U.S. and Canadian compliance regimes; additional jurisdictional expertise is a plus.

ACAMS certified (preferably).

Strong analytical skills with experience in problem solving and being able to implement and deliver solutions.

Good organizational, partner management skills and willingness to expand technical knowledge in a broad range of projects.

Demonstrate clear sense of accountability in performing the role and a positive demeanor (can-do attitude and solution oriented mindset).

Ability to identify inefficiencies, see the bigger picture, challenge the current status quo and define scalable and sustainable processes.

Well organized self-starter, able to prioritize quickly and meet deadlines even under pressure.

Team player with strong collaborative qualities, including some previous experience (or willingness) to build, lead and motivate a team.

Willingness to learn continuously and keep up to date with the Payments industry and its regulatory landscape (Globally).

Additional Information

New York City law requires Checkout.com to include in job postings a reasonable estimated salary range for this position. However, exact compensation may vary subject to several factors such as a candidate's level, relevant experience, qualifications, skills and proficiency for the role.

The information provided here is applicable to those working in the New York City office. However, this role may also open to applicants from other US locations and will be advised on the relevant pay for that location.

For regular full-time employees in New York City, the estimated base salary for this role is $202,000 to $238,000 per year. Additionally, this role is eligible to earn an annual cash performance based bonus.
