Our syndication group provides state tax credit equity to help developers finance their new construction, rehabilitation and mixed-use projects. Advantage Capital has syndicated over$2.3B in federal and $2.4B in state tax credits over a more than 30-year history and, in the process, developed deep expertise in efficiently structuring and closing transactions. We are currently active in the following states for state LIHTC: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin.
The Role
The Vice President Investor Relations is responsible for originating investor tax equity for the company's funds. While Advantage syndicates federal and state NMTCS, federal and state HTCs, federal LIHTC, and federal renewable energy tax credits, this position will primarily focus on state LIHTC. Most of Advantage Capital's investors are large institutional investors, including insurance companies and banks. The majority of the work responsibility for this role is developing and maintaining relationships with the decision makers at these institutions. We are open to fully remote candidates as well as candidates who can work a hybrid schedule out of our New Orleans or St. Louis offices (2-3 days a week). Job Responsibilities
Be an industry expert on state LIHTC credits in each state that Advantage Capital operates.
Have knowledge of other tax credits available in the market to better understand and guide the business line on supply and demand.
Collaborate with the state LIHTC business head to constantly evaluate investor demand and broader market dynamics.
Create and execute marketing plans to target high net worth and institutional investors for state LIHTC.
Manage existing investor relations.
Interact with Advantage's governmental relations team and internal and external legal counsel to stay abreast of state specific rules and regulations relating to tax credit delivery.
Communicate with DOR and DOI regarding acceptance of tax credits for investors.
Manage the tax allocation process in coordination with the asset management team.
Be the main point of contact for each state we operate in with the various departments of revenues and department of insurance.
Perform special projects or duties as assigned.
Self-motivated, creative problem solver, strong level of professionalism and ability to handle high pressure situations.
Preferred Skills Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel.
Evidence of significant business development, sales and client services skills, with the ability to cultivate long term relationships and influence others internally and externally.
Deep understanding of relevant tax and LIHTC specific topics.
Ability to understand complex tax topics.
Familiarity with state tax credit rules.
Critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a growing environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize key deliverables.
Detail orientated.
Ideal Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or tax
5+ years of relevant work experience
Familiarity with LIHTC is required
