The Barings Portfolio Finance (BPF) team provides customized, complex, highly negotiated, proprietary secured loans to private asset managers. BPF manages the entire loan lifecycle; and has a dedicated loan asset management team embedded to interact regularly with the investment team, borrowers, and external stakeholders - from origination to offboarding.
We are looking for a Loan Asset Management (LAM) Director to manage a team of 5 LAM members responsible for all operational and compliance aspects of our loan portfolio.
Primary Responsibilities
Effectively prioritize work amongst team resources; optimize effectiveness, coach, and develop team members.
Develop or refine processes, procedures, and controls.
Hands on management of LAM's responsibilities related to onboarding and closing new deals including participation in the review of legal documentation including, credit agreements, loan & servicing agreements, amendments, account control agreements, and closing/settlement statements in relation to Loan Asset Management functions and best practices.
Oversight, partner and problem solve on-going servicing and other administration functions on loans we service including compliance and covenant monitoring, borrower relationship management.
Collaborate with Treasury & Investment Operations teams supporting investments
Ensure deliverables are managed to a high standard, well controlled and within timelines
Qualifications Degree in Business, Finance, related field or equivalent
5+ years of relevant experience including managing a team in investment operations, preferably with investing or servicing private equity, private real estate, or private credit and lending documents (will consider highly qualified candidates without direct management experience if they can demonstrate readiness to step into a people manager role)
Knowledge of Banking and Treasury (forecasting, wire submission and approval processes, high-level general ledger impacts)
Strong interpersonal skills to lead collaboratively, develop credibility and build relationships with all internal and external stakeholders and partners
Demonstrate exceptional project/time management, coordination, and organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Advanced use of Excel and proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
