Description
Under direction, to provide a comprehensive staff development program for clinical staff based on learning needs of clinical personnel.
Santa Clara Valley Medical Center has one vacant Staff Developer positions to support the Emergency Department.
A qualified applicant would typically have at least three years of experience in the Emergency nursing specialty, evidence of expertise and competency in the identified nursing specialty, and additional experience as an educator/staff developer.
Typically would have a BSN from a four-year college or university. Master's degree in nursing preferred. Master's degree in nursing education or an adult ED/ICU nursing field preferred. Nationally recognized certification or related nursing specialty and/or Staff Development preferred.
The eligible list will be used for future openings within this competency area.

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center - 731 bed tertiary level acute care hospital provides the highest level of adult and pediatric emergency medical and trauma services, a regional high risk Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, an ACS-verified Burn Trauma Center, a Primary Stroke Center, a CARF-accredited Rehabilitation Center, emergency and acute inpatient psychiatric services, as well as a range of other specialized services - in some cases the only such treatment in the region.
O'Connor Hospital -358 bed acute care facility offering a full range of inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical and specialty programs to more than 1 million residents of San Jose. O'Connor Hospital was founded in 1889 as one of the first hospitals in Santa Clara County.
St. Louise Regional Hospital - 93 bed acute care facility, affectionately known as South County's community hospital, is a Designated Primary Stroke Center, and is the only acute care hospital in the area. Located in Gilroy, St. Louise is one of the largest employers in the community.

Typical Tasks
Serves as a clinical resource and role model;
Develops and participates in orientation programs for new employees;
Plans and establishes a comprehensive competency program;
Participates in the planning and teaching of educational programs necessary for hospital accreditation or other regulatory requirements;
Participates on nursing, health- and hospital-wide committees;
Provides support and direction to the Clinical Partners participating in the Orientation Program;
Works cooperatively with staff and managers to determine educational needs of the employees;
Provides regulatory agency mandated inservices to staff on a yearly basis and participates in the provision of these inservices to the entire SCVHHS community;
Assists in developing yearly goals and objectives for the Staff-Development Program;
Works with management to plan and achieve goals and objectives for each unit;
Participates in Quality Improvement activities to evaluate services;
Maintains knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act and legal aspects of nursing;
Participates in research projects as assigned;
Evaluates and disseminates pertinent research findings;
Assists staff members in understanding and utilizing research finding in their practice;
Pursues continuing education to expand knowledge and expertise.
Employment Standards
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in California and sufficient education and experience which demonstrate possession of the qualifications necessary to successfully perform the typical tasks noted above.
