Job Duties
· Strategic Leadership and Vision
o Provide leadership, vision, and strategic planning for donor stewardship initiatives.
o Develop a premier, comprehensive donor recognition program to strengthen existing donor commitment to the university.
o Create new relationships to enhance visibility, impact, and financial resources.
o Plan and execute strategic initiatives related to donor stewardship and cultivation.
o Collaborate with the Senior Director for Advancement Communications and Events to produce donor communications.
o Manage donor recognition, acknowledgement, and stewardship plan reports.
· Liaison with Senior Leadership
o Serve as the liaison with senior leadership regarding donor gifts.
· Enhancing Customer Service and Integrity
o Identify process issues related to donor management and provide strategic input for process improvements.
o Manage relationships with donors, ensuring the integrity of their wishes and inspiring future giving.
o Collaborate with the advancement teams and other campus stakeholders to provide cultivation and stewardship oversight to individual donors and prospects.
· Data Management and Reporting
o Work closely with donor research and gift processors to ensure accurate donor records and data.
o Present statistical analysis to the advancement team leadership based on donor information working in collaboration with advancement services.
· Events and Endowment Reporting
o Plan and implement donor recognition events in collaboration with the events team.
o Collaborate with the AVP for Foundation Operations to create external endowment reports to donors.
o Create innovative programs to thank and steward donors.
· Acknowledgment and Salutation
o Implement best practices for donor acknowledgment letters.
o Review and control all gift acknowledgments, including receipts and thank-you letters.
o Develop recognition and salutation standards campus-wide.
Requested Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION :
o Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field.
EXPERIENCE :
o 5+ years of relevant experience working in a higher education environment or not-for-profit organization.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
o Communications, marketing, and fundraising experience in higher education or a nonprofit environment.
o Writing and editorial experience.
o Comprehensive experience working in incentive or recognition programs.
o Experience with standard style guides (e.g., AP and Chicago)
o Experience supervising or managing the work of others is a plus.
o Serving and acting as a change agent and a thought leader in all elements of multi-media strategies including but not limited to digital and direct response trends and techniques.
o Ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness of measurement deliverables in the reporting of institutional giving to donors.
o Exceptional communication skills with stakeholders, donors, external audiences, internal audiences, and senior leadership.
o Excellent leadership, communication, and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and supervise staff at multiple levels.
o Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of contacts of considerable importance within, and outside of, the college.
o Excellent organizational skills, with special attention to detail.
o Proficiency in financial software systems, investment tracking tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
