As part of our core data engineering team, you will be integral to Seventy3, a pivotal division within REMAX, LLC, responsible for delivering essential data services both internally and externally.

As a Sr Software Engineer, you are seen as the expert voice in discussions revolving around all aspects of our development. You mentor junior engineers, steer discussions in a respectful manner and have a hand in designing our diverse suite of applications and services. The ideal candidate is an expert in at least one area of our microservice architecture spanning API’s, services, infrastructure, and domains such as documentation and process. Others see you as a consummate expert, and you have the mentality of a servant leader. Volunteering to tackle difficult problems that have ambiguous requirements, and you strive to bring order to chaos.

Essential Duties:

Partner with stakeholders to identify business problems and opportunities that can be addressed through delivery of software or improvements to process

Architect, develop, and implement high-quality code in the form of APIs and microservices that expose APIs for internal and external consumers using many different languages and tools. As a seasoned professional, you’ll be responsible for writing efficient and high-quality code to ensure software runs smoothly.

Lead other engineers in solving difficult problems

Ideate on organization-wide improvements that can benefit RE/MAX’s technical teams

Multi-language proficiency in at least 2 of the following software languages: Javascript/Typescript, Golang, Rust, PHP/Hack.

You are a “T” shaped person who knows a lot about microservice architecture, but love to learn anything even remotely applicable to your role.

Design, develop and maintain services using TypeScript and coordinate with various product to ensure their needs are met. You will also be expected to maintain these services over time with an eye to improving performance and cost. Write tickets and assist work efforts of junior engineers in their day-to-day efforts

Mentor other engineers in areas you are the expert in

Assemble requirements from discussions with leadership, and internal/external partners to facilitate architectural decisions

Design, Develop and maintain robust services for supporting internal and external customer teams in a demanding high-load environment serving users around the globe

Represent Software Engineering best practices when interacting with software architects, junior engineers, and management to implement solutions

Write comprehensive tests for the microservices and APIs

Work collaboratively with other engineers and test engineers to design and implement testing patterns for supported software

Assure other engineer’s tests methodologies are sufficient in areas you are the expert in

Identify stakeholders across the organization who may be interested in your efforts (security, performance, infrastructure, process, product, Etc.)

Debug and fix issues within our existing systems. This will require a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of our codebase, and a commitment to problem-solving.

Proactively search for performance improvements in a self-guided manner

Ideate and implement ways to improve our code and system quality

Monitor and improve the performance of live systems and take care of API versioning and backward compatibility. Guide others in doing the same. Take ownership.

Document the design and operation of code, including the APIs you create. (OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, Written documentation)

Collaborate with team members to understand data requirements and implement solutions for OLAP/OLTP, artificial intelligence, data intensive applications and web applications

Receive feedback on merge requests from senior engineering staff

Give feedback on merge requests to other engineers in a respectful manner

Architect and apply new patterns in our codebase to reduce workload on others

Required Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor of Science in CS or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Certified AWS Solutions Architect Associate ( or other certification ) is a bonus.

2-4 years in a software/Software Engineering role or demonstrates equivalent skills.

Demonstrated proficiency in programming with competencies one or more of the following software languages: Golang, TypeScript, Rust, PHP/Hack

Experience working with working with one or more of the following databases: Postgres, Elasticsearch, GraphQL, MySQL, DynamoDB

Experience with Docker + Terraform

Experience with Kubernetes

Understanding of Kubernetes deployments, and cluster maintenance

Expert Command line skills in a UNIX environment on remote systems (SSH) a must Deep working understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and writing maintainable code. Surprise us with new insights into our processes.

Bonus points for Experience with VSCode (you can use whatever IDE you want)

Deep Experience the AWS Ecosystem of services

Deep Experience with ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)

Familiarity with Datalake concepts

Extensive Experience implementing modern approaches to CI/CD ( Gitlab CI/CD preferred )

Deep technical knowledge with testing frameworks

Working knowledge of Terraform or other forms of Infrastructure as Code

Experience working on an agile team is preferred

Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities where you had a role as an individual contributor

Bonus points for a deep technical understanding of GoLang, PHP/Hack or Rust

Bonus points for a technical understanding of ElasticSearch

Bonus points for a Real Estate data background

Understands RESO related data fields

Understands MLS feed types ( WebAPI vs RETs )

Understands the processes / technologies that are utilized by agents, brokers, and MLSs

Property specific domain knowledge

Hire Range/Rate:

$110,500 - $135,000

Actual compensation offered to candidate will be finalized at offer and may be above or below the posted range due to skill level, experience, industry specific knowledge, education/certifications, or geographic location.
