As a Data Science Engineer at Couchbase you will play a crucial role in transforming data into actionable insights and wisdom that drive decision-making and innovation. This role involves close collaboration with Product Management and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to ideate, verify hypotheses, optimize resources, identify root cause analyses (RCAs), uncover opportunities within the Couchbase ecosystems, and work with engineering to ideate on the features. If you are a continuous learner, committed to using data to find solutions and efficiencies in complex systems we'd like to speak with you.

This position is based in our Santa Clara, CA headquarters with expectations for the candidate to come into the office 2-3 days/week.  We do not offer relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

Collaborative Ideation: Work closely with engineering and product  to brainstorm, design, and validate new features and improvements based on data-driven insights.

Resource Optimization: Partner with SREs to optimize resource usage, improve system performance, and ensure scalability and reliability of our cloud database solutions.

Root Cause Analysis: Utilize data analysis to identify root causes of issues within our systems and propose actionable solutions.

Opportunity Identification: Develop systems and algorithms to continuously identify and leverage opportunities for growth and improvement within the Couchbase ecosystem.

Data-Driven Wisdom: Transform internal and public data into actionable insights, driving innovation and strategic decisions across the company.

Continuous Improvement: Actively seek out new technologies, methodologies, and best practices to continually enhance our data processing and analysis capabilities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Solid experience (5+ years) in a data science, data engineering, or software engineering role, preferably in a cloud computing or database company.

Expertise in programming languages such as Python, R, Java, or Scala and familiarity with data science and machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Proficiency in SQL, with experience in both relational and NoSQL databases. Knowledge of Couchbase is a plus.

Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively across different teams.

A passion for continuous learning, experimentation, and applying new technologies and techniques to solve complex problems.

The anticipated starting base pay range for this role is listed below. Base salary is not the only component of our competitive total rewards package - you may also be eligible for bonus, commissions, equity, and other benefits as described below. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. Base Pay Range $130,000—$170,000 USD
