The mission of the Allen Institute administration team is to provide support and structure to the scientific divisions. Coinciding with the team science approach, administration helps facilitate team learning and the institute’s overall mission.
This role is positioned within the Project Management Office (PMO) within the administration team and will lead a variety of non-scientific, technology-focused, strategic, and operational projects which address a major initiative for the Institutes and enable the success of the organization.
The Project Manager is responsible for developing project plans and applying appropriate project management methodology to operationalize key functions, drive projects to completion, and achieve results. The project manager may be assigned multiple projects ranging in size and complexity that align with organizational strategies. This role is accountable for partnering with leadership, leading cross-functional project teams, and working with stakeholders to ensure timely, high-quality, and consistent completion of business operation activities. Essential aspects of this position include having a natural sense of leadership, interpersonal skills, superior judgment, problem solving, group motivation, relationship building, and diplomacy.

Essential Functions
Ensure project success by working closely with senior leadership, business stakeholders, and IT functional leads to develop and implement high quality solutions
Manage project documentation including scopes of work, charters, deliverables, project workback schedules, status updates, and stakeholder communication
Align key stakeholders on project KPIs and objectives
Execute implementation strategies and apply forward thinking on integrating legacy and new technologies
Lead project meetings and collaborate with subject matter experts to execute on project tasks
Communicate and present status updates, data analysis and escalations to leadership
Guide teams through ambiguity, seek to offer creative solutions while addressing problems of a diverse scope, and influence decision-making
Lead change-management efforts and drive end-user adoption
Participate in evolving PMO best practices, team development, and personal goal setting
Ability to adapt to changing environment and work independently and as a team

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in business, project management, or related field of study OR equivalent combination of degree and related experience
3 years minimum experience in project/program manager roles with progressively responsible project/program management experience
3 years minimum experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
Experience in gathering technical requirements, leading software selection, and managing software implementation projects
Proficient in project management software such as MS Project or Smartsheet
Preferred Education and Experience
5-7 years of progressively responsible project/program management experience
Master's Degree
Developed skills in organizing and planning across multiple stakeholders
Skilled in effective communications and documentation
Knowledgeable in process improvement and change management principles
Experience presenting progress and results at the senior leadership level
Strong analytical skills to support problem solving and strategic thinking
Physical Demands
Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds
Standing and sitting for extended periods of time
Fine motor movements in fingers/hands to operate computers and other office equipment
Push/pull up to 50 pounds (pushing a cart)
Stooping, bending, crouching
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This role is currently able to work both remotely and onsite in a hybrid work environment. We are a Washington State employer, and the primary work location for all Allen Institute employees is 615 Westlake Ave N.; any remote work must be performed in Washington State.
Annualized Salary Range?
$88,450 - $129,750*
* Final salary depends on the required education for the role, experience, level of skills relevant to the role, and work location, where applicable.
