POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Anesthesia Tech III. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for stocking anesthetic supplies for the operating rooms, maintain anesthetic equipment, ensuring anesthetic equipment is available, and assisting clinicians with patient care.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical/ Patient Care: Provides assistance to all anesthesia clinicians:
During induction, maintenance and emergence from anesthesia.
With the placement of regional anesthetics and invasive monitoring devices.
Provides medication to provider.
Retrieves and drugs to drug delivery system.
With pain blocks, epidurals, spinals, line placement and patient positioning.
With transporting patients.
Follows directives and protocols.
Communicates with circulating nurses.
Responds to codes.
Calibrates and runs Quality Control and Quality Assurance analysis.
Calibrates and trouble-shoots anesthesia machines.
Sets up Level I RIS, syringe pumps, capnographs, TEG and TEEs.
Sets up intravenous, central venous, arterial, pulmonary artery catheters using sterile techniques, percutaneous introducer kits, double lumen kits, triple lumen kits, long arm CVP kits, chest tubes, ARNDT blockers, univent tubes, trans-tracheal intubations, fiberoptic scopes, LMAs, tube changers, jet ventilation and resuscitation bags.
Clears debris and equipment from the surface and drawers of used anesthesia machines.
Ensures the sterility and cleanliness of all machines.
Performs all standard procedural checks on equipment.
Assists with troubleshooting technical problems.
Makes minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
Informs Engineering and supervisor of needed repairs.
Checks machine drawers to insure they are well stocked.
Makes available fluids, Lactated Ringers, Plasma Lite, Normal Saline, Hespan, Flextend, FFP, Whole Blood and Albumin.
Disposes of supplies used in regular and contaminated cases.
Ensures medical pipeline is operational, including N2O, O2 and Medical Air.
Checks the status of nitrous oxide, nitrogen and carbon dioxide cylinder banks to determine available supply pressure.
Replaces empty cylinders.
Assists with the training of Anesthesia Technicians.
Apprises supervisor of performance of Anesthesia Technicians.
Ensures workroom areas are clean and orderly before, during and after each shift.
Performs other related duties as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree required.
Graduate of a one year Anesthesia Technician program.
Must be able to read, write, follow instructions.
Certification in BLS-C required.
Lift and move anesthesia equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.
Basic computer skills.
Experience in staff development and training preferred.
