**The College of Arts & Sciences has an outstanding opportunity for a Technology Project Manager.** **Position Purpose:**

In collaboration with the College of Arts and Science’s Director of IT and College IT Team this position will focus on:

• Developing solutions to improve operational efficiency by recommending changes to existing processes, implementing new technology, or developing new workflows to optimize performance.

• Providing operational insight for the College of Arts and Sciences IT Team.

• Assisting with implementing strategy and processes to manage the successful delivery of IT services and solutions according to stakeholder needs and objectives.

• Working with IT leadership and departments/units to identify projects and conduct strategic planning.

• Working independently and within a team environment with the IT team to provide a critical service to the Dean’s Office, adjuncts located in Russell Hall, and departments across the College.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** _Project management (60%)_

• Support project definition activities by helping to understand stakeholders’ needs, formulating solution strategies, and developing proposals and business cases.

• Develop realistic and achievable project plans, estimating labor and non-labor costs, schedules for completing the scope of the work and document planning assumptions.

• Review and acquire plan approval from the project team, management and project sponsors and the stakeholder community.

• Direct and delegate project leads and participants from core IT team members.

• Collect project status frequently, measure project performance against baselines, analyze variances and adjust as needed to keep the project on track.

• Provide effective leadership without direct reporting relationships for the extended project team, including IT, business and other vendor representatives when needed.

• Foster a productive and collaborative teamwork environment.

• Manage time effectively, facilitate group decision making and conduct effective meetings.

• Develop new and customize existing project management processes, tools, and techniques to manage and contain project cost, schedule, and achieve project results.

_Process management (15%)_

• Analyze current business processes and perform gap analysis to identify opportunities for process improvement.

• Recommend, design, and implement new business processes to remove barriers for the IT team as well as our customers, and improve overall organizational effectiveness.

• Document current and new processes and assist with creation of user facing documentation.

• Develop and deliver training relating to new business processes on a 1:1, group-based, and through recorded materials.

• Work with director of IT and technical leads to develop plans and activities to support the people-side change.

• Support communication and training efforts at the units.

_Communications and content management strategy (15%)_

• Work with the Director of IT to draft and send out IT newsletters, IT Updates, and urgent IT communications to departments within the college and Tech Staff across the college.

• Assist with web updates for IT and departments as needed.

• Act as a resource to Core IT staff for communications and identify areas that need to be broadly communicated in a timely fashion.

_Strategic and Operations Planning (10%)_

• Work with the Director of IT to design and guide strategic planning, road mapping for the College of Arts and Sciences IT portfolio.

• Understand the strategic direction and needs of the business.

• Identify, recommend, assess, and estimate initiatives that will help advance the strategy, include risk analysis, business cases, skills, costs, and schedules

The coherence, stability, and reliability of the systems and solutions in the College are critical to the success of their administrative, research, and public service missions.

**Position Complexities:**

The IT project needs served by this position are complex along several dimensions—computer hardware, computer software, and unique departmental needs and goals need to be specialized for differing missions of the member departments. The employee must judiciously blend central standards and guidelines with local expertise and requirements to make recommendations and to provide flexible service. Along with the technical challenges of the position, equally important is the ability to successfully interact with clients to enable them to complete their missions at the University.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:**

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 4-5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

**Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:**

• Demonstrated client service skills and the ability to work with personnel of various levels of technical background.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a variety of desktop and workgroup server computing environments.

• Enthusiastic individual with stellar interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills – must be able to work well with a diverse group of personalities and forge effective partnerships, often without direct authority.

• Demonstrated experience working with minimal supervision, both independently and in a collaborative team environment. An ability to prioritize and complete tasks and assignments efficiently and within deadlines.

• Strong project-management skills and ability to multitask to meet internally and externally imposed deadlines.

• Self-motivated, resourceful, and proactive.

• Operationally minded with experience developing, implementing, and managing effective processes and systems.

• Strong drafting and editing communications and reports.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to exercise independent judgement and creatively solve problems.

**Desired Qualifications:**

• Related degree or a minimum of 3 years of experience working on complex projects in an IT environment. Higher Education experience
