Job Role Summary

Manage the activities of the clinic staff for the Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program. The WIC Program Manager is responsible for various administrative clinic operations such as scheduling staff, completing staff Kronos, supervising and mentoring clinic leads and clinic staff, completing staff evaluations, and maintaining the INWIC scheduler. Assists with implementation and evaluation of nutrition education program within established Federal, State and divisional guidelines and standards.

Associated Job Duties

Collaborates in the annual preparation, implementation and evaluation of the WIC Nutrition Education Plan.

Interviews candidates for WIC positions and recommends for hiring/transfer/promotion and dismissal.

Assumes supervision of the program in the absence of the Program Administrator.

Performs duties of clinic personnel as needed.

Resolves day-to-day problems at program sites including handling complaints of program participants, problems with WIC staff, computer issues.

Monitors work performance of clinic staff on an ongoing basis. This includes but is not limited to counseling on work performance evaluation and accountability of worktime.

Assists in State Program Annual Review, corrective action follow up and staff refresher trainings due to review findings.

Monitors and analyzes clinic functioning including flow patterns and staffing.

Maintain personnel and attendance records for clinic leads and staff.

Participates in community education activities as outreach for WIC.

Processes and analyzes monthly statistics including closet formula logs, formula prescription logs, breast pump logs, mileage, CPA logs and monthly activity sheets.

Attends management team meeting.

Ensures proper implementation of Universal Precaution pertaining to finger stick for hemoglobin and lead screening measurements.

Additional Job Duties cont'd Ensures safety of negotiable instruments.

On-call for Saturday and evening clinics.

Facilitates and implements training and in-services as needed concerning program updates, policies and procedures.

Conducts program quality assurance.

Coordinates all clinic activities with sensitivity to diverse cultures.

Maintains confidentiality of all client records and information as specified by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability of Act of 1996.

Trained at the appropriate National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ISC) level.

Participate in the response to public health emergency exercises and in response to public health emergencies.

Participates in a minimum of 2 H.O.P.E. events totaling a minimum of eight (8) hours annually.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Completion of a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in, but not limited to, Public Health, Nutrition, Nursing, Business.

Master's degree preferred

Mandatory 3 - 5 years WIC experience with demonstrated ability in supervising professional and Paraprofessional staff

Must possess a valid Indiana driver's license and have access to reliable transportation for in-state travel

Must meet one of the following qualifications listed below:

Professional license/certification as appropriate.

Must be a Registered Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association upon hire. RD license is required

Must be a Registered Nurse by the Board of Nursing, with background in Nutrition, upon hire. RN license is required

Licenses/Certifications Required Valid driver's license

RD, RN license required upon hire

Professional license/certification as appropriate

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Thorough knowledge of (or ability to learn) the WIC Supplemental Food Program.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to: Effectively respond to stressful situations, time limitations.

Effectively organize, assign and supervise the work of others.

Program plan.

Interpret and apply federal, state and local program policies and procedures.

Communicate effectively in verbal and written form.

Operate standard office equipment.

Work effectively on a multi-disciplinary team.

Working Environment Travel required between various program locations.

Exposure to communicable illness and disease due to direct and frequent client contact; and possible participants under stress.

Some physical effort associated with lifting and carrying supplies.
