Director, Payments Compliance Oversight Lead

OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Director, Payments Compliance Lead to enhance and drive our regulatory compliance management program in the payments business. This role will be a key contributor in the company's focus on enhancing our regulatory compliance program and strengthening relationships with our financial institutional partners. You will develop a strategy for the function, lead program development, and support the company's continued focus on sound compliance risk management. This role reports into the VP of Payments Compliance and Risk.

Responsibilities:

* Develop and maintain compliance policies that articulate our legal and contractual requirements and effectively address identified risks.

* Provide compliance subject-matter support to cross-functional stakeholders as they design and implement products, features, workflows, tools, etc.

* Establish a framework to handle the intake and response for external requests from our financial institution partners related to our compliance program.

* Liaise and engage with compliance teams at our financial institution partners to represent our compliance program.

* Develop and administer compliance training to communicate requirements and obligations for our business, products, and features.

* Analyze trends, monitoring results, and industry developments to continually assess our compliance posture and recommend enhancements to proactively mitigate compliance and operational risks.

* Contribute and support compliance reporting to leadership in the payments business and other relevant stakeholders on the health and status of the compliance program, including material updates and remediation efforts.

* Partner with Legal to monitor for changes to applicable laws and regulations impacting our business; Own the communication to relevant stakeholders on the impact of these changes and support enhancements to products and features.

* Travel Less than 20%.

Skills:

* Proficiency in distilling complex concepts and operational challenges into actionable solutions that support business objectives.

* Effective negotiation skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders to maintain productive business relationships.

* Demonstrated history of project ownership and successful delivery, showcasing initiative and accountability.

* Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, enabling the management of multiple projects in a dynamic environment without compromising quality.

* Proven experience collaborating with financial partners to ensure regulatory compliance across various domains including financial crimes, money movement, product obligations, and consumer compliance.

* Self-starter with a willingness to venture beyond comfort zones to drive innovation.

* Strong autonomy and initiative, coupled with clear and articulate verbal and written communication skills.

* Respect for laws, rules, and regulations with a desire to pursue innovation and continuous improvement.

Experiences/Background:

* 12+ years of compliance or risk experience in banking or payments industry.

* 5+ years managerial experience.

* Demonstrable knowledge of laws, regulations, and industry practices impacting financial services (e.g., financial crimes, NACHA, consumer compliance, etc.).

* Significant experience designing, implementing, or managing aspects of a compliance programs using on established regulatory standards (e.g., Federal Reserve Supervisory Letter 08-8, COSO internal control framework, bank partnership compliance expectations, etc.).

* Bachelor's Degree; an advanced degree is a plus. Relevant compliance or risk certifications (e.g., CRCM, CERP, CIA, etc.) are preferred.
