Senior Software Engineer

At Above Lending, a leading US small lending firm, we are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll be instrumental in guiding our technology and product decisions for our team, working closely with our product team to implement features and functionality for our loan products. You'll lead the development and implementation of web-oriented customer flows for both loan origination and servicing. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of offering seamless loan services that aid in credit improvement for our customers.

You will
Design and build our internal-facing API’s, asynchronous back end processing, and third-party integrations using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and AWS
Collaborate with front-end engineers and product managers to ensure seamless integration of front-end and back-end functionalities.
Participate in technical conversations with other engineers and help steer decisions in the right direction
Offer constructive and respectful feedback via code reviews
Research and promote design patterns and practices that fit our technical challenges
Write automated unit and integration tests as well as build tools to assist in testing various aspects of our platform
Build in business and technical metrics alongside the features themselves to further us as a data-driven organization
Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes.
You have
Minimum relevant job experience: 5+ years in back-end development,
Experience developing, releasing, and maintaining production-quality software using Ruby on Rails.
Expertise in building and consuming APIs
Strong knowledge of database design and writing SQL statements
Ability to troubleshoot production issues in unfamiliar code
Experience scoping projects into small iterations for release
Clear and efficient communication skills
Mentorship skills and the ability to give well-crafted constructive feedback
