Client Services Specialist

P OSITION S UMMARY :
The Client Services Specialist must be committed to the mission, vision, and services of Roots. This position is responsible for serving as the first point of contact for prospective clients and requires direct communication with clients to help determine eligibility or need for services.
E SSENTIAL F UNCTIONS :
Obtains client information by answering incoming calls; interviewing clients; verifying information
Assess client needs and assist with service referrals and connections
Assist clients in completing Medi-Cal application
Informs clients by explaining procedures, answering questions, providing information
Work with Navigators and other staff in supporting mutual clients
Follow up with potential clients regarding missed appointments
Perform other duties as assigned
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Ability to multitask
Ability to speak clearly and concisely
Team player with a positive attitude
Ability to type at least 50 wpm
Active listener with strong data entry skills
Complete all required documentation and reports in a timely fashion
Input client information
Carry out all assigned responsibilities in a professional manner;
Administrative duties such as filing, telephone calls, etc.
E DUCATIONAL R EQUIREMENTS :
Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree
W ORK E XPERIENCE R EQUIREMENTS :
• Experience working in a non-profit organization or a community clinic preferred, but not required.
Q UALIFICATIONS AND D ESIRED CHARACTERISTICS : Interest/experience working with individuals facing barriers to employment
Excellent computer skills, communication, and organizational skills
Interest in serving low-income individuals, especially people of African descent, in an effort to empower the community and eliminate disparities
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds; strong interpersonal communication skills;
Ability to work under pressure; good sense of humor; flexible and patient;
Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting;
Detail-oriented with good organizational skills;
Willingness to work a flexible schedule;
P HYSICAL C ONDITIONS :
• Frequent walking, standing, stair climbing, bending, stooping, lifting (25 lbs. max)
• Gross and fine manual dexterity;
• Must be able to visually observe staff to understand and interpret non-verbal behavior;
• Able to operate standard office machines and equipment including keyboards.
