About The Role - Senior Software Engineer - Server-Side

We’re hiring engineers passionate about building innovative tech in a human way. Your work will apply advanced terabyte-scale data analytics to uncover unique correlations, enabling our clients to maximize their marketing and social media efforts. We’re already serving major Fortune 200 companies, leading sports teams, and top influencers across entertainment.

Tech Stack:

Core: JavaScript, Typescript, React, Linux, Apache Druid, Postgres, NodeJS, Apollo Client / Server (GraphQL), AWS

Secondary: Sequelize ORM, Bull, Celery, Python, Kafka, Docker, Ansible /Terraform

What you'll do:

Create applications and GraphQL APIs to improve user experience and seamlessly connect with a variety of online services, including popular social media platforms and messaging apps.

Partner with our chief architect to architect, design, document, and build highly-scalable modular code.

As a mentor, you’ll help upskill junior and mid-level developers, fostering an environment where we all grow.

Hiring Process

We view hiring as a two-way conversation. We also believe speed is paramount in delivering a great candidate experience. Our process is not about whiteboarding or brain teasers. We focus more on getting to know who you are, what you want to do, and how you do your best work. We know you’re busy, so we like to move through it as quickly as you like, suited to your schedule.

Here is our streamlined four-step hiring process for this role:

Get to know you. We’ll learn about you and you’ll hear about the Alembic vision directly from our recruiting team, or from our founder and CEO, Tomás Puig.

Share what we’re building. You’ll meet our Chief Architect, John Adams, who will want to learn about your technical skills and interests.

Meet the team. You’ll meet more on the engineering team, like our CTO/COO, Lloyd Taylor, or a peer engineer, who can share more about Alembic and the role.

Offer Stage. Finally, we gather everything we’ve learned about you to make a swift decision. We'll ask you to introduce us to references. If you agree and we all believe you’re the best fit for our team, we’ll share a best offer and a preview of the journey ahead.

Why you might be excited about Alembic:

You want to build something that is both technologically challenging and solves a real customer need. You want a role with major upside that tackles a massive market opportunity.

You are a serial startup builder or want to learn more before becoming a founder yourself. We have assembled a super team of leaders who have deep experience building and selling B2B marketing solutions that work.

You prefer to work for a company who is on the path, but has not “made it” yet. We’re a well-positioned company on the come up. We’re prepared for whatever’s next and thus stable even through a choppy market.

You want to work where you can take a big swing at building something big without excessive stress or burnout.

Why you might not be excited:

If you only want to tell people instead of building and coding alongside them — and on your own — then we’re not the environment for you.

You prefer company practices with 100% built out process for every little detail.

You prefer static over dynamic. Projects, priorities, and roles will adapt to your skill set and your goals. Though we have real paying customers, and a playbook for growth, we proudly remain an early stage startup.

Location

This is a hybrid role with MWF 10am-4pm in-office expected. We strongly believe that our personal and company growth benefits from in-person discussion and live collaboration. Meanwhile, while we work a hybrid schedule, we believe it’s important to remember we’re all individuals with unique needs.

At Alembic diversity, equity, and inclusion are the core of who we are.

Our commitment to these values is unwavering, across all of our work around the world. They are central to our mission and to our impact. We know that having varied perspectives helps generate better ideas to solve the complex problems of a changing and increasingly diverse world. Further, Alembic believes that diversity and inclusion are an advantage to our business and our team. This commitment informs all our decisions, solutions, and customer interactions.

We’d love to share more with you. Thank you for reading. If you want to learn more about Alembic or this role, please let us know of your interest on this page.
