Job Description The Office of Academy Resources at Phillips Academy seeks an Associate Director for Advancement Initiatives responsible for all aspects of significant development priorities, including for the school's museums, outreach programs as well as philanthropic programs. The Associate Director will serve as a liaison between the Office of Academy Resources and the program directors for the school's museums and outreach programs, to advance fundraising, cultivation and stewardship for each program. Reporting to the Director of Advancement Initiatives and working collaboratively with colleagues in the Office of Academy Resources, the Associate Director will also support efforts to advance philanthropic initiatives to secure resources and build programming to advance these efforts. This includes oversight of development strategies, related to prospect management, marketing and communications, in addition to the resources required for cultivating and soliciting gifts on behalf of the programs. The Associate Director is an ambassador for these important initiatives to engage prospects and meet annual and long-term goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will bring experience and passion in the following areas:

Serve as a liaison between OAR and the Addison Gallery, Peabody Museum, IRT, MS2, ABL and other Development priorities, assisting with strategy, communication and solicitation materials, reporting needs, and advisory board meetings;

Implement best practices and work with staff members of the OAR team, faculty and advisory board volunteers to execute strategies for prospects;

Develop and maintain awareness among gift officers of the funding priorities and provide them with content for meetings and proposals;

Collaborate with colleagues to build and deliver strategic events for specific program donors and volunteers by developing compelling programing; effective partnerships; timely communications and marketing and oversight of event details as well as post-event follow up;

Manage a portfolio of program prospects and donors as necessary;

Monitor and document prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations;

Conduct all efforts in a fiscally responsible manner;

Perform other duties as required.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  The ideal candidate will have experience working on fundraising campaigns, excellent writing and oral communication skills, knowledge of databases, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to being a member of the OAR team are essential for this position.

A minimum of 3-5 years of direct or transferrable experience, development, project management or educational setting.

Travel—including overnight travel—is required, both locally off-campus as well as out of state. Night and weekend work is required for events and donor engagements, both on campus and off, including out of state.
