U.S Soccer is currently building a National Training Center in Fayette County, GA. This role will be reporting to the office in Fayetteville, GA.
Position Description
The Vice President of Accounting & Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, and internal controls. This role will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information and provide strategic guidance to senior management on accounting and financial matters.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS, Non-Profit Accounting).
Prepare and present financial statements, reports, and analysis to senior management and external stakeholders.
Coordinate and manage audits (internal and external), tax filings, and other financial activities.
Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
Provide strategic financial guidance and support to senior management.
Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners.
Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
Stay current with accounting trends, regulations, and best practices.
Perform complex special projects at the request of Management
Requirements Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation required.
10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and standards
Expertise in financial reporting software and systems
Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
Ability to think strategically and with vision, anticipate possible future consequences and trends and incorporate them into the organizational plan
Track record of building and leading effective and diverse teams
Experience working with auditors and other third-party service providers
Sense of urgency, integrity, and accountability
Possess a growth mindset, is open minded and seeks challenges
Outstanding project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple assignments, prioritize, and meet deadlines
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to make effective oral presentations to large and small groups
Strong relationship and partnership-building skills
Desired Qualifications
Experience working at a non-profit, sporting organization, financial services, or public accounting firm
Experience at a public accounting firm
Pursue lifelong development and learning
