**SUMMARY:**
The Buyer is responsible for analyzing and purchasing to best service our customers. The Buyer ensures that DGI Supply selects the most appropriate products based on incoming sales, stocking levels and regional needs. Develop the best buying strategies for DGI Supply while maintaining consistent quality and managing costs.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** **:**
* Purchase products and bring them into DGI Distribution Centers, using past sales data, customer forecasts, and supplier lead times to maintain inventory at appropriate levels
* Coordinate all purchases with inventory or warehouse managers to ensure rapid delivery, discrepancy resolution and reception of goods and/or services
* Negotiate, Coordinate and manage some warehouse returns, as needed
* Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers
* Collaborate with sales, accounts payable, operations, product management, and finance to solve issues and improve customer service
* Where applicable, arrange for purchases with other buyers to obtain price breaks on volume orders
* Determine what orders are needed urgently to keep supply chain moving; working with suppliers to expedite orders
* Monitor key performance metrics
* Expedite orders as needed to provide on-time delivery to meet or exceed the customers demands
* Adhere to and enforce compliance with purchasing policies, procedures, regulations and laws
* Uses advanced technical skills to analyze data and produce reports
* Other duties as assigned
* Reports to the Inventory & Procurement Manager
**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:**
* 1+ years of related purchasing experience a plus
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or certification equivalency preferred
* Strong problem solving, analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills
* Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
* Self-starter and elf-disciplined; sound judgment and shrewd decision making skills
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team, changing gears when required
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
* Excellent computer skills: Internet Research adn intermediate to advanced MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and data entry is required
* Work under pressure of deadlines w hile maintaining a professional attitude and calm demeanor
* Accuracy and attention to detail required
* Ability to work with little or no supervision
* Strong customer service focus
* Passionate, Adaptable, Customer Focused and Teamwork oriented
* Strong sens e of urgency and accountability
