ABOUT THE ROLE
Our ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience in high end residential design, an in-depth knowledge of drafting, space planning, showroom, and vendor relations. They will be collaborating in all phases of design from concept through installation and will be working directly with the founding principal. Applicants must reside in or near our San Francisco office and be able to reliably commute to the office Monday-Friday with a 9/80 schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design:
Participate in all phases of multiple design projects from design development through construction management while ensuring designs meet the client and Principal's expectations and are on brand for NVD
Provide QC reviews for consistency with the firm's standards for all phases and sets, and all presentations, prior to final approval by the principal
Organize, coordinate, supervise, attend, and facilitate project Installations; out-of-state travel will be required
Produce and manage the production of schematic, floor plans, furniture plans, elevations, interior architectural details, lighting plans, and custom furniture drawings
Oversee sourcing furniture, fabrics, accessories, finishes, lighting, plumbing, hardware etc.
Produce presentation boards, mood boards, etc. (digital and physical) consisting of necessary FF&E for Principal approval and client presentations
Provide oversight to designers and design process with regular team meetings for all projects; anticipate, troubleshoot, and navigate any design or construction issue
Manage and mentor the design team to ensure accuracy as well as professional growth from redlining to day-to-day feedback
Provide monthly milestone schedule to track project development
Facilitate/moderate communication between client and other project participants
Maintain the design side of Design Manager
Financial & Procurement Responsibilities:
Handle and resolve all production-related problems with vendors
Coordinate shipping and deliveries for projects
Coordinate the production of high-end furnishings, fabrics and materials, including requests for quotes, CFAs/Strike, purchase order preparation, and expediting
Review and approve employee and non-employee project time billings prior to issuing invoices
Provide regular updates on the coordination of project staffing
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or related field
7+ years' experience working in a professional interior design practice, concentration in high-end residential required
Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Microsoft Office, SketchUp, and Design Manager
Proficient in Revit with 1-2 years’ experience in a professional setting
Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-management skills
Skilled in conceptual thinking, experiential design, and storytelling in space
Knowledge of FF&E, color & materials, design showrooms and dealers both locally and internationally
Knowledge and experience with Art, Antiques, and Architectural/Historical Periods
Hand-drafting
7+ years of Management Experience
Proficient in using windows operating system
