The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly enthusiastic and motivated Scientist II/Senior Scientist to join our Discovery Sciences team. The ideal candidate is an expert assay biologist who thrives on rigorous experiment design and execution, contributes to various drug discovery projects and is a consummate team player. The successful candidate will be an integral member of a diverse drug discovery team, with ample opportunity to progress their career development in drug discovery. Becoming a member of this team is an excellent opportunity to join Rezo at an early stage and help build the Discovery Sciences function and contribute to various drug discovery projects.
What You'll Do: Closely interact with scientists in biology, chemistry, and other functional teams to provide in vitro assay and screening expertise for drug discovery
Develop and implement strategies to leverage medium-to high-throughput biophysical/biochemical and cellular characterization to guide SAR development
Independently design, develop, and troubleshoot experiments for small molecule discovery and characterization
Perform compound screening and MOA studies using in vitro assays and other chemical biology assay techniques
Maintain detailed records, analyze and interpret data, and generate SAR reports
Transfer optimized assays to CRO partners and manage CRO relationships to support, guide, and troubleshoot experiments
Communicate scientific findings at internal and external meetings, and via manuscripts for publication
Stay scientifically current and adopt emerging technologies to the drug discovery process
About You: PhD in chemical biology, biochemistry, cell biology, cancer biology or related discipline with 2+ years of experience in developing small molecule ligands in an industry setting
Extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of applying assay technologies (SPR, BLI, DSF, TR-FRET, AlphaLISA, NanoBRET, cell viability, etc.) to support hit discovery, characterization, and SAR development
Expert proficiency in common laboratory techniques, such as mammalian cell culture, molecular biology/cloning, PCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry, etc.
Experience with compound screening databases and data analysis/visualization software, such as CDD, Spotfire, Dotmatics, D360, etc. is a plus
Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry techniques is a plus
Experience working with molecular glue modalities is a plus
Skilled at working within a dynamic, matrixed environment with a track record of collaborating across multiple drug discovery teams
Outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Compensation at Rezo
The expected starting salary range for this position based in San Francisco, California is $115,000-$165,000 for Scientist II and $135,000-185,000 for Senior Scientist. Actual starting salary will be determined based on multiple job-related factors including a candidate’s skills, education, and experience, the level at which they are hired, market demand, business needs, and internal parity. This role is eligible for participation in our Annual Discretionary Bonus Plan (based on individual and company performance) and our Equity Incentive Plan, subject to the terms of those plans and associated policies. This position is also eligible for the benefits detailed below.
