JOB DESCRIPTION:
SAIC is seeking a Scientific Software Engineer to support The Ocean Biology Processing Group at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.
The Ocean Biology Processing Group ( http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov ) at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center is a world leader in satellite-based remote sensing of the ocean. This position will support scientific software development for current and future satellite radiometers supported by the OBPG.
Duties include:
Implementation of processing algorithms in science software
Evaluation and validation of code performance and adherence to coding standards
Code testing and verification using static and dynamic analysis tools
Code maintenance and configuration management control
Qualifications
Required Skills: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the development of scientific data processing software using C or C++ in a UNIX/Linux environment. Strong verbal and written communications skills. The successful candidate must also be eligible for unescorted access to NASA facilities.
Desired Skills: Experience with scientific software development for satellite remote sensing and evaluation of geophysical products retrieved from satellite data. Experience with Python, Fortran, Git.
Education: Degree inComputer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Physical Science (postgraduate education will be considered for professional experience).
SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
