Senior Payroll Specialist

Job Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining payroll records, and providing excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll matters. This role involves compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and handling confidential information with the utmost discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
Process regular payroll cycles, including computing, withholding, and deductions.
Ensure timely and accurate payment of wages and salaries.
Manage payroll discrepancies and resolve any payroll-related issues.
Record Maintenance:
Maintain payroll records and files, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Update payroll information such as changes in employee status, pay rates, benefits, etc.
Compliance:
Stay informed about changes in payroll laws and regulations.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
Reporting:
Prepare and submit reports for management and regulatory agencies.
Generate payroll-related reports such as earnings statements, tax summaries, and benefits summaries.
Customer Service:
Serve as a point of contact for employee payroll inquiries.
Provide support and assistance to employees regarding payroll issues and concerns.
Collaboration:
Work closely with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Coordinate with external vendors, such as benefits providers and tax authorities.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
Professional certification (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional) is an advantage.
Experience:
Proven experience in payroll processing and administration.
Familiarity with payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday).
Technical Skills:
Must be experienced in ADP WFN
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Knowledge of payroll best practices, laws, and regulations.
