About the Organization/Business
Our Mission: To promote exhibit, and preserve the history of Broken Arrow, its environs, and the State of Oklahoma
Education and Experience: Bachelor degree in Related Field and two years of responsible experience or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Ideal candidate will exhibit strategic mindset to manage multiple projects, collaborate with Board of Directors and committees, and lead small staff of three and other groups to achieve expressed goals. Interest in and enthusiasm for history is vital with experience in use of social media to market our small museum and its outreach channels. Some oversight of revenue streams and budget. Some knowledge of non-profits very helpful. Personable and able to engage people of all ages, with effective public speaking to organizations and museum visitors. Writing skills commensurate with the image and goals of the Museum, including willingness to learn to write grants and narrative for exhibits. Willing to support fund raising and other events (large and small) alongside a working committee. Management experience preferred. Training available for all duties.
Duties: Goal setting and implementation. Promote the Museum, its programs and exhibits on social media, website, and other forms of media. Ability to utilize online and print historical sources as needed. Organize temporary exhibits of local artists or history. Oversee program to recruit, train, and supervise volunteers. Oversee Museum Store personnel and operations. Oversee paid employees plus assist, as needed, professional contracted personnel who manage reports to the Board, payroll, and tax returns. Update website for simple changes and engage with contracted website designer as needed. Utilize publications, promotions, tours and special programs to maintain and grow clientele of our Museum. Oversee calendar and rental bookings made by support personnel. Oversee and assist Collections Manager. Ensure that information shared with the public is factual. Perform other related duties as assigned.
