REPORTS TO: SVP - COMMUNITY IMPACT AND PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER

DEPARTMENT: COMMUNICATIONS AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS

PAY RANGE: $152,400.00 - $165,000.00 ANNUALLY

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Community Impact Director provides strategic leadership, community outreach and engagement expertise, and a commitment to driving positive change throughout our organization and communities. The Community Impact Director will direct operations, programs, and strategic direction for the Golden 1 Foundation, which conducts Golden 1 charitable giving and community impact work. Additionally, this role will lead strategic community impact efforts, including nonprofit community sponsorships, partnerships, and charitable giving. This role will work closely with Golden 1 leadership and the Communications & Community Relations and Marketing teams to drive effective community impact efforts throughout California.

The ideal candidate will possess nonprofit management skills, fundraising acumen, and a comprehensive understanding of social impact initiatives and how to successfully implement them in support of the Credit Union’s strategic goals, mission, and vision.

TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

Develop and implement strategic plans for the Golden 1 Foundation that advance the Credit Union’s Mission, Vision, and strategic goals. Lead the creation of innovative programs and initiatives that address community needs and drive measurable impact.

Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of community programs and initiatives. Utilize data and metrics to assess program effectiveness and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.

Develop and execute fundraising strategies, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and special events, to secure fundraising support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies.

Cultivate strong relationships with community leaders, organizations, and community members to understand their specific needs and priorities.

Develop and implement Golden 1 Foundation marketing and communications strategies to raise awareness and promote engagement with the organization's work.

Design and facilitate community engagement activities, including town hall meetings, focus groups, and workshops, to gather input and feedback. Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts to ensure that programs and services are accessible and equitable for all community members.

Identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership with other organizations to maximize impact and reach.

Manage the Foundation's budget and financial resources to ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability.

Represent the Golden 1 Foundation in the community, external stakeholders, and media.

Consistently communicate Golden 1 Foundation efforts, priorities, progress, and learnings to Golden 1 leadership and teams.

Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of staff members, volunteers, and interns.

Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that values collaboration, creativity, and accountability.

Support professional development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and expertise.

Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to Credit Union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.

Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASK:

Advanced oral and written communication skills required to represent Golden 1 at community events.

Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:

INTERNAL: All levels of staff.

EXTERNAL: 3rd party vendors, government officials and staff, other Credit Union representatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Nonprofit Management or Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration or Policy, Social Sciences or Humanities, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum eight years of prior government affairs, political, communications, nonprofit management or public relations experience. Agency experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Must communicate effectively and persuasively with all levels of the Credit Union.

Working knowledge of best practices and current techniques related to nonprofit management, fundraising, and/or community relations planning and implementation.

Excellent grammar, spelling, copyediting, and proofreading skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Excel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must reside within the Sacramento region.

Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.

Corrected vision within the normal range.

Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.

Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
