What are we looking for in a Recovery Care Manager?
Recovery Care Managers are part of our outpatient Access to Recovery team in Walla Walla, which provides supportive services to adults in recovery from substance use disorders. The Recovery Care Manager provides various interventions such as developing recovery care plans, coaching and skill development, assistance with accessing financial resources, and referrals for additional services or resources where appropriate. Using their own personal experiences and recovery journey to help build rapport, Recovery Care Managers assist clients with exercising agency over their own lives and the recovery process. In a supportive role, Recovery Care Managers work with clients to develop and practice independent living skills, coping skills, and self-advocacy and encourage clients to develop natural supports by socializing & engaging with their community. This position is best suited to an individual who is ready to use their own experiences to relate to others and is willing to travel regularly.
Recovery Care Manager duties may include:
coordinating with clients and their families, when appropriate, to develop an individualized recovery action plan for each client
assisting clients with developing activities of daily living skills and modeling ways to increase social supports and develop meaningful relationships
facilitating behavioral health and skill-building groups
sharing personal experiences of recovery, as appropriate, to build motivation and encourage clients in their treatment
introducing clients to appropriate community resources and educating clients about physical & psychiatric illness, medication effects, & side effects
assessing clients for safety and risk to self or others, and taking appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated
assisting team members by making phone calls, coordinating appointments, providing transportation to clients, and delivering paperwork as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field
Must be a self-identified consumer of substance use disorder treatment services in stable recovery
Must have or be eligible for Peer Counselor certification in Washington, provided by the state Healthcare Authority: https://www.hca.wa.gov/billers-providers-partners/behavioral-health-recovery/peer-support
Valid driver's license, vehicle liability insurance, and a minimum of two years of driving experience with no serious infractions in the past three years
