Job Description
Accumulus is seeking a Senior Director of Finance. This will be a key role on the Business Operations team, reporting to the Head of Business Operations.
Starting day one, you will have the unique opportunity to support the growth of Accumulus Synergy through the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems. The Senior Director of Finance will be tasked with preserving company assets, reporting accurate financial results, and driving delivery of the Accumulus vision.
Accumulus is a non-profit startup funded by some of the most well-known companies in the biopharma industry. You can expect a unique blend of regulatory, technical, and people leadership, hands-on work, executive and sponsor relationship building and meaningful engagements with global health authorities.
This role also entails occasional travel, approximately one trip per quarter within the United States, to foster relationships with key stakeholders and support strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership:
Provide strategic guidance to the executive team and investors on financial matters, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Offer insights into the financial implications of major decisions, contributing to the company's overall performance and growth trajectory.
Financial Planning and Analysis:
Develop comprehensive financial models to support decision-making, including scenario-based forecasts for revenue and cash flow.
Lead the budgeting process and collaborate with functional leads to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Implement cutting-edge finance technologies to optimize operations and enhance efficiency across the organization.
Proactively identify and mitigate financial risks, fostering informed discussions among leadership.
Accounting Management:
Manage Financial Statements (Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, Statement of Cash Flows), ensuring meticulous oversight to drive financial performance and strategic decision-making aligned with our organizational objectives.
Ensure timely execution and ongoing refinement of procurement activities (Purchase Order issuance, invoice collection, payment issue, etc.)
Compliance and Risk Management:
Develop and implement robust compliance, accounting, and audit policies tailored to the organization's growth trajectory.
Establish internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
Manage the annual third-party financial audit
Prepare and file annual tax returns
International Finance Operations:
Manage international revenue operations, navigating regulatory requirements and optimizing financial structures for global expansion.
Stay abreast of tax regulations and ensure compliance with nonprofit status in the U.S. and other jurisdictions as the company expands globally.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; CFA or CPA certification preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Director of Finance or similar role
Prior experience at a non-profit organization is required
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively (written and verbal) to diverse audiences
Demonstrated executive presence required for internal and external engagement
Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into easily digestible communications
Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with an ability to consistently execute multiple, and sometimes competing activities to a high quality and timely conclusion
Strong analytical, financial modeling, and decision-making abilities
Self-starter with a track record of dealing with ambiguity, getting up to speed and adding immediate value to new situations
Familiarity with finance technology solutions and a commitment to driving operational excellence
In-depth understanding of cash flow management, bookkeeping, and other accounting procedures
Ability to manage internal and external resources
Prior experience at a SaaS startup is preferred
