The Learning Experience Project Manager (LE PM) supports online course development and other projects on the University of Washington Continuum College (UWC²) LE team. The qualified candidate has experience successfully managing projects varying in complexity and maturity. They are capable of collaboratively creating the system and processes within which they will work. This individual is comfortable with ambiguity and a product development environment. They are able to complete work through project leadership, facilitation, influencing, and hands-on performance – all while improving the online and hybrid learning experience for students at all stages of life.

The person in this role will work with a team focused on:

Success of the learner, not driven by shareholder priorities

Increasing access to learners at all stages of life and under-served communities

Establishing a project management team for the UWC² LE team in a startup environment

Responsibilities

Project Planning

Facilitate LE contribution to project concept and proposal development

Lead LE project early engagement/intake, planning, and commitment activities in a product development environment

Conduct needs assessments and lead project consultations

Gather and document clear project requirements, scope, and statement of work

Develop realistic, achievable project plans and integrated schedules

Identify and document project risk, issue, and opportunity (RIO) management plans

Develop project operating rhythm

Project Execution

Manage portfolio of LE online course development (including media production) and other projects in a product development environment

Collaboratively execute plans that include the following:

Clear project requirements, scope, and statement of work

Work breakdown structure (WBS) and integrated baseline project schedules

Buffer and resource management

RIO and change management

Project operating rhythm

Proactively identify and collaboratively solve complex problems with team members, stakeholders, instructors, and external partners

Determine and clearly communicate project health, performance, and needs by compiling and analyzing project data

Collaborate with leadership to ensure resources are available to achieve project outcomes

Identify and address help needed by teams and remove roadblocks

Complete project close-out activities and documentation

Project Management Process & Tool Development

Assist in the development, documentation, implementation, and optimization of project management processes and tools, including:

Project early engagement/intake, planning, execution, and close-out

Scoping, SOW & WBS development, and integrated scheduling

RIO & Change Management

Portfolio health and performance measures, metrics, and visibility

Appropriate escalation process based on the circumstances and audience

Project management software system(s) selection and implementation

Provide guidance, coaching, and training in the use of project management tools

Lead and facilitate meetings, discussions, and decision making

Participate in project teams, committees, or other Continuum-wide or UW-wide initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in project or program management role, or equivalent experience to include:

Gathering and documenting clear project requirements, scope, and statement of work,

Developing realistic, achievable project plans and integrated schedules

RIO (risks, issues, opportunities) and change management

Strong relationship building and collaboration skills with diverse team members
